Pre-transfer mock injuries are almost always toes.

Not something so you have to prove it, but possibly bad enough to stop you playing.

Toes, the perfect pre-transfer mock injury. Ask Danny Ings.
Sadly, I think you’re probably right. I hate the lies. I’d rather the club just say that due to the speculation surrounding his future he won’t be available until after the window has closed - that’s fair enough.

I doubt very much he’s got a toe injury. Only reason other than he’s leaving is that Sean didn’t want to risk him in a cup game but can’t say he was rested for the PL. We’ll know in a few hours either way.

I can’t see why he’s go West Ham though. Every chance they’d make him look ****. Other issue is that Tarks wouldn’t know who his manager would be - they must be close to sacking Moyes.

I can see him leaving but not to West Ham.

A good summary NC, if Tarks leaves I'd hope it's too a much bigger fish than WH, he'd be wasted at a club like that, and also they're likely to be in the dogfight at the bottom, Leicester I could see why he'd be attracted to them, good manager in BR, and they can offer European footy.

I just want this resolving ASAP, then we can get on with recruiting a replacement, or maybe that's what's holding up Tarks exit, and we want to source a replacement (Dawson?) before we see Tarks go through the exit door.

You can never be certain in these instances, but if he plays today, the chances are that'll he'll staying for this season at least, if he's well advanced in pursuing a move, I doubt SD would want to select him anyway.

We need players that are 100% committed to the cause, and if that means playing Dunne & Long for a couple of games, then so be it.

Agree with everything you say, but we have had a whole pre-season to get Dawson and it doesn’t feel like that should be a hard deal to complete if we thought Tarks was leaving. Let’s say they want £5-8m - not much if you have just got received ~£50m. If we aren’t sure that will be happening, that could be a huge part of the budget when we have other priorities.

I’d also play him until he’s sold for the precise reason that Garlick hasn’t done the deal on another player. There’s 6pts available in the next two games, which could make the difference between a relegation battle and a comfortable mid-table finish. For me, in our position, we start with the strongest possible team regardless of transfer rumours at the moment.

I can see United coming in with a cash + players deal.

Not arsed where he ends up, the amount the club gets for him is the bigger concern.

I don't disagree that Tarky in the centre of our defence makes us much stronger, no matter who plays alongside him, however if his mind is not 100% focussed there's a danger that he'll be a liability if selected, and he'll also perhaps have one eye on avoiding injury if a big money move is on the cards.

As to why we haven't closed the Dawson deal, I don't know, unless we need to receive funds before we can buy, I'd have thought Dawson would be a relatively straightforward deal to conclude given Watford's relegation.

Either way we need this resolved one way or the other this week, the window shuts in 15 days, and everybody knows how prolonged our transfer dealings can be, if we need to sell Tarks to fund 3-4 arrivals, then that's what we'll have to do unfortunately, because one way or the other we need to bolster the squad, to at least give Sean a fighting chance of overseeing another survival campaign.

As I have said before, now is the ideal time to sell him to get maximum value. Burnley don’t need £40m+ players to achieve our target, which is staying in the Premier League. If we can get that sort of fee then selling him makes sense providing the money is reinvested in new players. Problem is that we are leaving it too late to make those signings and expect the new players to gel without any disruption. If you get off to a bad start in the Premier a League then you are immediately chasing your tail and it makes it even more difficult to attract reinforcements come January if you are stuck down at the bottom. So it may be better to hang on to him for now and try to sign a replacement so that we can then move him on in a January with said replacement ready to slot in. Unfortunately, that means spending first, which the Board might not be willing or able to do.

But the Board did spend first, sadly it did not go well, did it.

I'm pretty sure it's not a case of 'he's off' it's a case of he has a release clause which might be triggered so we don't want to risk our asset.

When does the window close?

Tarks has dipped his toe into the transfer waters and perhaps a few clubs have taken a nibble.

Who knows but we might have seen him on the pitch in a Burnley shirt for the last time.

We need a decent fee due to 25% sell on clause.

If he’s off than we need investment. Simply getting Dawson as a replacement isn’t good enough.

Now how did it go when I dared to suggest we were an injury or a bid away from starting with Long and Dunne at the back v Leicester. And I quote:

Yes, but current bids are nearly £20m short of the alleged figure and we have a shortage of central defenders, so I doubt it. I didn’t want to believe it but I’m starting to worry he may be refusing to play.

We won't get £50m for him. I'd have thought about £35m plus add-ons. If the club is in negotiation they will of course protect their asset.

I don’t mind him being sold, just not to a ‘rival’ in the 10 or so teams battling relegation. If he goes to a top 7 team then do be it, but the Hammers!?

Absolutely, but you have to question this "furthering career" idea if he goes to West Ham or similar.

The apparent fractured relationship with the board already, it could put it on eggshells. Dyche want's Tarkowski here.

Yes West Ham would be a joke of a move, apart from the obvious financial gain. Leicester on the other hand would be step up.
