Because there are TWO River Calders, each with a valley, which flow downhill in opposite directions from a point only a few dozen feet apart in the Cliviger Gorge. One to the North Sea via Hebden Bridge and Halifax and one to the Irish Sea via Burnley, Padiham and the River Ribble.
Thank God for someone with a brain. :P

And the Halifax one is the best known because of it's Parliamentary constituency.

I think it was always unlikely that the owner of a building would be privy to the private business affairs of his tenants.
Wasn’t suggesting they’d have confided the finer details of the deal    , just that landlords tend to do a lot of DD on a tenants taking space (depending how much & for how long) so there may have been some interesting information shared. Clearly either a Rothschild or Pinsents client though.

You make it sound so appealing. How do I invest? :D
Not appealing to me from a fan’s perspective, but I could see the logic, IF the numbers stacked up.

The reason I seem a bit down on it from a business perspective is that I’d assume it wouldn’t make money, due to us only having <20,000 crowds. But I may be wrong. Interest on debt is a big part of the costs of this kind of thing.

"Who knows, maybe this will be their plan, perhaps actually in the Calder Valley"

Well I'm not trekking over to Halifax to watch Burnley every couple of weeks. ;)
Indeed, yes I used to work in it.

I meant to type Calder Vale of course, meaning the area just off the M65, but I was only being tongue in cheek as to location, though I was seriously pondering the merits of the business case.

Based on your contributions to this thread, especially in relation to Calder Vale, I’d keep your brains comments to yourself.

You’re one of them that thinks they know everything about anything but in reality know nothing about everything.

Whatever will be will be and there's not much any of us can do about it.

Still find it surprising that a company registered in Leeds (Calder Valley country.) and supposedly connected to Burnley, would call themselves Calder Vale.

Burnley Rovers played at Calder Vale, changing code and becoming Burnley FC in 1882, moving to Turf Moor after an invitation from @BurnleyCC in 1883. Calder Vale Rugby Club founded in 1926, changed name to Burnley RUFC in 2002

It’s Pinsents, they’re named on the Companies House docs. They’ll be advising Alan Pace and friends.

What is pretty clear is they’ve registered a new company locally and with the news reports about the takeover, it feels like progress. The company’s name, its registered office address and certainly the landlord is not something anyone needs to analyse in such detail, means nowt.

I'm well aware of the name, it just surprises me that a new, supposedly progressive American company would use it in connection with Burnley FC. They are not exactly known for their knowledge of history.

It surprises me, that's all. As I said earlier, it doesn't mean it's not possible.

You really think they came up with the name or give a toss what it is? It’s simply a UK company that would be a shareholder. The new owners would be ALK Capital, not Calder Vale Holdings/ABC Co/123 Co or whatever the hell they called this UK company

Yes it’s obviously far more likely that someone supposedly interested in buying the club has set up a company for entirely different purposes and just so happens to have, by mere chance, named it after the club’s first ground.

Are takeover's subject to review & investigations from the Premier League?

I'm going off the failed acquisition of Newcastle. Could this mean that a takeover is further away than some people think?

If what I’ve been told tonight is even half true it’s wholly understandable why Dyche has been at ‘war’ with the chairman.

Player offers, yes offers, being accepted without the manager being consulted, Dyche threatened to walk in order to keep both.

One of the minor directors is openly touting the club to anyone who will listen, and is also at ‘war’ with the chairman.

Certain Directors only speaking via intermediaries

This is all second hand information, it is not claimed as being true, it was given to me in good faith.

It’s sounding more and more like a takeover is needed, and not just for any money that it may bring into the club. If there’s any truth in this, Garlick must have lost is marbles.

I think Garlick has ****** on his chips. About to net £100m and too cautious to replace Gibson and buy a right winger. No chance now.

We are Burnley we will fight on but I think we need a miracle to stay up this year based on what we have seen so far. We need us Clarets behind the lads on the Turf asap.

Feels like I am very close to being proven right on my instincts over the last 5 years, about the club finances and everything associated with it. I take no pleasure in it other than it being nice to feel instincts are well honed.

Those of us working in finance can read the signs - balance sheet figures, communication from the board, manager comments etc. I’ve lost count of the number of arguments I’ve had on here with people who love the board to bits. I’ve always given them a bit of praise, but always guessed it was keeping a steady ship with an eye on a lucrative sale. Not saying that’s the wrong thing to do, and not saying the club isn’t loved by them, but family will be loved more, so looking after themselves would always come first, us second.

Like I say, nothing wrong with it, just depressing. For the first time in 30+ years, I can feel my own attachment to it starting to slip away - I hope that’s just an illusion. Our kid asked me today why they should support Burnley 2 hours away instead of their local team - I struggled to answer it.

They’ll certainly hold fire now. Would be daft not to.
serious investors won't be put off by a few defeats - we are only 3 points behind Man United and 4 behind Man City !

Sad, but understandable. The truth is the last few years have been as good as it is ever going to get for Burnley fans. Now it looks as though it might be coming to an end, we're desperate to cling on, and we realise it might never be as good again.

I’d agree if we had addressed the obvious issues in our squad. As it happens, we haven’t and it will be January before ALK would get that opportunity. If I were them I’d string it out just to be on the safe side.
