Looking at DJW on line, assuming they’re one and the same, it’s not difficult to assume that he may well be party to this sort of information.

Whether or not he should be posting what he knows, I don’t know, but for me at least, it makes interesting reading.

It certainly beats the transfer window thread!!

From what I’ve read he didn’t really give anything of any substance. Just lots unconvincing conjecture about how it’s all tied in with Northern Powerhouse. Still, I guess it’s exciting to believe that someone amongst us knows what’s going on.

He shared we were in takeover talks before anyone else did. And it wasnt an unsubstantiated rumour.

I came on here tonight to see what was new re ALK Capital - lots of new posts - but most seem to be about transfers - didn't we have another thread (or several) going for all that stuff? :(

Re ALK Capital - a reminder to some - the first mention of their interest in investing in Burnley comes from a report in Reuters - and, based on Companies House records, Alan Pace director of ALK Capital is also a director of Calder Vale - which just happens to be a name in Burnley FC's history.

Then we have Neil Hart's video today where he confirms that there are discussions re new investor - though no direct confirmation of who the discussions involve - or whether any of this will lead to, or not lead to a new investor in Burnley FC.

And that, pretty much, is the sum total of what we’ve learnt from 1,100 posts on this thread. Just move it to the top and we can save any late-comers an awful lot of bother

You have a short memory. The first post on ALK capital was this thread, however DJW had been posting on other threads about a takeover bid for weeks before this thread started. The Reuters article was what corroborated what he has said.

Bizarre. Cannot for the life of me understand why we would place multi-million £ bids for players the manager didn’t want to be part of his team.
So it looks like we are trying to do the right things, it will have appeased so foll that, least we were trying to dign the right type, for s decent fee.

A very quick search supplies someone of the same name owing a venture capitalist company and being involved in finance. Possibly what the other poster was talking about.

I don't know who the poster is and I haven't looked into him outside a quick google of his name and there being what I have posted above which is the connection I believe a few posters have.

For all I know - someone has used a name for this board which would allow this to be connected and give it credibility. That's why you shouldn't take anything you see on the internet at face value. If you have evidence that his middle name is D rather than J then possibly isn't the same person.

Why are people so quick to criticise other posters contributions?

To me this is quite simple, DJW was talking of a takeover and impending announcements and it appears that there is something going on with the Reuters article,
companies house and now Neil Hart effectively confirming it.

Why do we have to pick holes in what he’s saying especially when it appears to be completely true?

Probably because ‘This is a local club for local people’ mentality. Attack the poster and make him go away, then they don’t have to hear the alternative views that would destroy their world view.

I don’t think anyone has attacked the poster. He has been pulled up for passing off things like McNeill and Tarkowski being sold as a fact. Nobody has made him go away, that’s his choice. If your ‘world view’ is one of fantasy then crack on.

He wasn't passing them off as fact, he passed them off as rumours from a different source to the takeover one.

I just posted above things that he passed off as fact. If you want to lap it up that’s fine, I have just called it out as the BS that it obviously is. I’m not really interested in carrying this on any further as it’s turning into a bit of a charade with people even googling the poster to work out who he is.

This could still go nowhere. Doesn’t appear to be any capital in place yet. They may never use the company they have set up if goes no further. They may be sounding us out before they try and get investors on board. If the stinking block is about Garlick and Holt on board I’m not so sure the Americans will go for such dynamism.

I’m fairly sure that the references to Clive Holt were a joke.

If Mike Garlick wants to sell there is nothing that Hooy could do to stop him.

What did he actually tell us except what was already in the public domain? Most of what he posted was just speculation about what the potential acquirer’s motivations might be, which I for one don’t buy at all.

You say he was two weeks ahead of the announcement, but speculation has been mounting ever since Garlick said he was open to the idea of external investment last year.

He may well have got wind of the ALK approach in advance, but nothing I have read suggests he had any special insight into what was going on.

I’m a bit confused by this thread now. Suggesting people who are still posting have gone away.

In terms of investment, that’s been ongoing for over two years at least now in terms of the search. I know some people were in doing due diligence quite some time ago and we’ve had some in again very recently although I don’t know whether they were the same group.

I really struggle to understand the criticism of DJW on this thread, its nonsense it really is. He was posting way before the Reuters article of a possible takeover / investment / SPAC (I still have no idea what this is but that is by the by) Yet because it didn't happen immediately people start googling his name and calling him out??? Some of you guys are crazy. So he suggested Tarks and Dwight were off, I can guarantee you this much, a lot goes on behind the scenes at BFC that never gets anywhere near the media. Criticising someone for posting what appears to be a staged and limited disclosure of what they know / have heard is just wrong, absolutely wrong. Give him a break if it is all BS, (which I strongly doubt) its been good entertainment. Give the bloke a break.
It seems there are very very few have any inside knowledge at BFC who talk or post, and in the main, with good reason, so sometimes it's interesting to hear / read what may be going on.

From tonight's Mail - Confirmation of Daniel's statement about Egyptian interest - and not as part of ALK

Burnley takeover can't come soon enough as Sean Dyche's side travel to West Brom in desperate need of a win after tricky transfer window
- Burnley are now the only Premier League team without a point yet this season
- Sean Dyche's Clarets have also endured a difficult transfer window this summer
- American investment company ALK Capital LLC is in talks to purchase Burnley
- The Clarets travel to West Brom on Monday looking to impress their new owners
By JACK GAUGHAN FOR THE DAILY MAIL

PUBLISHED: 22:30, 18 October 2020 | UPDATED: 22:31, 18 October 2020

It will be just after midday on America’s east coast when Alan Pace, the man who wants the keys to Turf Moor, settles down to stream what is a big night for Burnley.

The sort of night that, even though they are only three matches into this season, will define the next few weeks.

While describing the trip to West Brom as must-win might be premature, Burnley — three defeats from three — could really do with avoiding a fourth.

They are a club plodding along. Takeover talks with ALK Capital, headed by Pace, are said to be positive but dragging on longer than the Americans expected. There remains a rival party, funded by money from Egypt and Dubai.

Chairman Mike Garlick has met Pace — former chief executive of Real Salt Lake in MLS — a number of times in the north west but has not struck a deal.

Friday’s domestic transfer deadline went without Sean Dyche being able to bolster a threadbare squad.

Dyche’s frustration at the lack of activity is well-known, and his relationship with Garlick at its lowest ebb since taking the manager’s job in 2012.

There is also conflict between Dyche and technical director Mike Rigg, with the pair not on the same page on the sort of new signing Burnley should be attracting.

The essence is as follows: Dyche wants players to improve the quality of his starting XI, believing the club — now in a fifth consecutive Premier League season — is in a position to stretch its financial parameters.

But money is not available for those players. Dyche has vetoed certain targets, understood to include Harry Wilson.

And so, nobody of consequence has arrived beyond Dale Stephens from Brighton for £1.5million and Dyche is left praying his key men stay fit. The team is more than good enough to finish mid table providing they encounter no fitness problems.

The players are exasperated at the impasse between manager and board, struggling to understand the logic behind a lack of fresh blood. In fact, the only good news recently has been their exit from the Carabao Cup.

What is left is for Dyche to somehow garner the maximum out of this squad and defy the odds. Again.

That should prove slightly easier with captain Ben Mee ready for a return and James Tarkowski back in the side. It could be a bleak autumn.

Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton and Arsenal make up five of the next seven games.

Every defeat makes Burnley, even with their spanking new training ground and Category 1 academy, a higher risk investment for those looking to take over.

If points are not forthcoming then that represents a problem for the seller, Garlick. Pace will be watching Monday's developments with interest.

A really interesting article that, particularly surrounding the Egypt/Dubai money as part of a potential rival bid.

The ongoing talks need to be concluded one way or another asap, we can do without a long drawn out distraction whilst we are trying to get our season on track.

A good article even with the nonsense about it being good to be out of the Carabou (quarter finals next and not till December, so even we would have grabbed that had we could).

The Middle East money is interesting but as fans I’m not sure what we would prefer, my hunch is the Americans. There are a lot of potential changes to our football experience after a takeover, some good, some bad. Time will tell, I’m just crossing my fingers that the board have the long term future of the club and the town as a factor in their thinking.

Let's hope that whatever is going on is worth the wait.

We have a team capable of getting results and you know what - the international break has allowed time to be spent on our shape and getting players back so hopefully we can start our season tonight with a nice win.
