I think people are beginning to post stuff for the sake of bumping up the page numbers now, like this one.

That article sums up a good chunk of the MMT thread over the last 2 to 3 years (about 20% I would say)Cubanclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 7:54 amhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55131356
Seems a crazy time to be buying the smallest PL football club. I hope they know what they’re letting themselves in for.

You have to wonder what's happening. DanielJWaterhouse was so much in the know that I thought it was him buying the club. He's not posted now for over 13 days on this thread. I wonder why.

Somebody mentioned earlier that there was a Tik Tok video mentioning Burnley and it was, I think, Farnell's daughter.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:10 pmThat has just confused the hell out of me, how is this relevent?

It's 1st December today. I was thinking that should the club be taken over in 2020 I reckon it could be this month.

Being serious, I still think Ducker's report last week suggests it is curtains for Farnell and anyone he attaches himself to.

The clamour for this to be done also picked up speed once John Cross allowed himself to be fooled and rushed out his exclusive hat a deal had been signed.

Sunday Supplement only ever had any value for me if Neil Custis was on and someone upset him, his meltdowns are gold

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
The Custis brothers were good entertainment but there were some journalists I enjoyed on there back to the likes of Paddy Barclay a few years ago to such as Oliver Kay and even Oliver Holt in more recent years. And a special mention for Jonathan Liew. One week the panelists were asked which team they would enjoy going to watch if they weren't working and he said Burnley.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:54 pmSunday Supplement only ever had any value for me if Neil Custis was on and someone upset him, his meltdowns are gold

I accept completely that the any new owner will find new commercial opportunities for the club and these have nowhere near been maximised under the current stewardship....but I don’t really see much opportunity in our match day revenues....other than sorting our catering out to some kind of basic level of standard that fans are able to get a drink or two without missing 10 minutes of the first half !!

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
One of the problems we have is a limited number of corporate seats available on match days. There was talk of potentially building outside the Bob Lord Stand towards the cricket field end as they've done at the other end for the new offices. That would have provided a lot of space for corporate but they would then have to be housed in the stand for the match and there aren't enough seats available. I don't know how you would do it without some extensive work but there is a need for more availability. I'd agree with you on the non match day commercial opportunities.TVC15 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 11:04 amI accept completely that the any new owner will find new commercial opportunities for the club and these have nowhere near been maximised under the current stewardship....but I don’t really see much opportunity in our match day revenues....other than sorting our catering out to some kind of basic level of standard that fans are able to get a drink or two without missing 10 minutes of the first half !!
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
IF we do get taken over by ALK or El-no-Kash then what will they do to improve the present situation?
A couple of new ‘quality’ players? A new chairman? Reduce the player’s wages? New training/coaching techniques? New scouting system based on computerised data?
What would YOU do in their position?

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Agree that there may be increased corporate hospitality opportunities but even this is limited as you say in terms of space but also probably in terms of demand - even if we doubled our income from this source it’s not massive amounts in the whole scheme of things. Not like Man United who have 15,000 corporate hospitality every home game !!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:36 pmOne of the problems we have is a limited number of corporate seats available on match days. I was talking really more about our potential to increase the revenue from our fans. I don’t think increasing prices or reducing them would have much impact either way....you’d probably lose fans one way and not gain enough fans the other. I think if we increase capacity even to say 25,000 we would struggle to fill it most weeks.
The areas I assume any investors will see potential opportunities is in things like sponsorship and increasing our worldwide appeal. More commercial partnerships is another area of growth that I would expect. There are lots of things I see at Burnley which are similar to how Man City used to run their club when I involved there in my work capacity - unfortunately that’s not a good thing as it was probably going on for 20 years ago when they were a bit of a laughing stock in terms of how the club were run - especially compared to United at the time !!!

Totally agree with all of that TVC15. I have no idea what plans potential new owners might have but we do have to start tapping into the wider commercial market with partnership and sponsorship.TVC15 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:53 pmAgree that there may be increased corporate hospitality opportunities but even this is limited as you say in terms of space but also probably in terms of demand - even if we doubled our income from this source it’s not massive amounts in the whole scheme of things. Reducing players wages will do wonders in a relegation battle! I’m sure they know that the immediate need is some reinforcements to the squad and maintaining our top flight status. The rest will hopefully follow after this is achieved like as pointed out above the need to improve us off the field in the commercial part of the club.Mala591 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:39 pmIF we do get taken over by ALK or El-no-Kash then what will they do to improve the present situation?

New owners can't reduce players wages, they will be honoured according to their existing contracts.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 5:47 pmReducing players wages will do wonders in a relegation battle! Of course, if you've just spent up to £200 million to buy a club, you will want them to be successful. I'm sure there will be money for (1) new signings and (2) new contracts, including better wages for those players that the club needs to retain and build on.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I’m not teasing. I just think from last week’s info that Farnell & Elkashashy are out of the running. I do think the club will be sold because the major shareholders clearly want that. I doubt the three you mention will be involved but there was a Tom Cruise played for Arsenal a couple of years ago.

Good fact on Tom Cruise being an ex gunner too !
Think we are all just hoping for some positive news to come out of the club - or any news will do at the moment !
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Agreed with that, been a **** start to Christmas as it stands so it would be just like our beloved club to turn that around by going deep in to sadville and then in to happy place.
