I doubt they will, but if they did, how much say would he have on transfers? I think they would have their own team for thatClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:50 pmAnd what is the situation if the new owners retain Garlick as the executive chairman

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
All the strong suggestions is that they want to retain Sean Dyche - I would guess Garlick's position may rest on any negotiating he's done with the new owners. I still wonder about why he opted to stick the word executive in front of chairman in his title almost a year ago.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
There's a lot of difference between being Chairman/CEO/MD as a result of your own shareholding to being in a salaried (albeit bonused) 'Executive' role; you might well still be the one making final decisions, but you have to do so based on a set of parameters that are now dictated by others sat behind your throne.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:50 pmAnd what is the situation if the new owners retain Garlick as the executive chairman
It's especially when any of those decision's are likely to prove unpopular with the workforce, and/or in this instance, with the club's supporters too, that you will discover just how far behind the throne that they're able to sit; given the crap that MG's already had thrown at him, I wouldn't touch that job with the proverbial barge-pole.

Pace moving here, for a hands on role, suggest Garlick will have little inputClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:05 pmAll the strong suggestions is that they want to retain Sean Dyche - I would guess Garlick's position may rest on any negotiating he's done with the new owners. Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I wouldn't expect Garlick to have much authority should he still be involved. It's been said that Pace would come in and have a leading role. But until something happens and we are told things, we won't know who is staying, coming, going, or what roles anyone will have.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover

From a business point of view if, the directors/chairman work for free, it would be wise to keep them on board. Some of the pay packets for similar at different clubs is staggering.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:31 pmI wouldn't expect Garlick to have much authority should he still be involved. Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
To be honest I can't see it.
Do you remember when Frank Teasdale said he was open to investment but only as long as he could remain chairman. That's why he went with the joke Shackleton bid. Eventually two other directors went behind his back to get Barry Kilby in. Teasdale remained on the board for a limited period after that, attending league meetings etc. while Kilby got up to speed with them.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Directors work for free when they own the club. I can't see any new owner asking any existing directors to work for free after they've bought the club - except where the final price for their shares is determined by where the club finishes the season, or other measure of success.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:46 pmFrom a business point of view if, the directors/chairman work for free, it would be wise to keep them on board. Articles published keep saying, "in the coming weeks" and attempting to get it done before Christmas, which sounds like within the next 2-3 weeks before something is confirmed. The Enclosure wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 3:04 pmIsnt it getting exciting ?..I get a real feeling that CT may be composing an article as we speak.

We did - played Watford in the Football League Group Cup and it was bitterly cold that night. We went to Blackpool on the following night for the FA Youth Cup tie, I think that's the only time I've ever known Blackpool to be sub zero. The Enclosure wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 3:30 pmNo...we played Oxford United on the 5th December on the Turf.Lord died 3 days later on the 8th.

That was a wild night - I was up at the back of the old Gene Kelly and it felt like you were on the Big One you were getting thrown that much. Aboslute farce of a game but when Christian Kalvenes scored it justified Lee Mason's decision not to abandon it.
