Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. Reports I'm reading is that it's expected to be settled 'in the next few weeks', making it more likely to be near the end of this month.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I'd love to know just what benefit you think that there would be for Mr Garlick in him doing this???Top Claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:27 pm
The other alternative would be for Garlick to run the club down like he his at the moment, with the end result being relegation with the value of the club becoming next to worthless

I read one earlier on the newsnow website that covers Burnley's transfer rumours (and the takeover now and again). Read another last week that I found on Facebook, forget the source.

This has been one of the most embarrassing, childish threads on here for a long time.
It's like a competition for being the most annoying belmtard in Burnley.
Made worse by the fact that it's one of the most crucial subjects of my lifetime as a Claret.
Idiots.

ah yes, the adeola friday thread is much better.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Where have the ‘not stumping up the cash’ comments come from? I’m assuming it’s just because it’s not happening as quickly as we might like and not something that has been reported somewhere?

I love the word belmtard. I was convinced me and my mate invented that in Primary school in the 70's.burnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:54 pmThis has been one of the most embarrassing, childish threads on here for a long time.

FFS, they’re negotiating the sale of a business with chunky turnover, and volatile assets, not selling a 2nd hand fiat punto. These things take time, there’s lots of hoops to be jumped through, lots of details to iron out. It looks likely to be done, but if you’re working in days, rather than weeks and months, you may have underestimated the complexity.Top Claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:00 pmAll bidders have had plenty of time to do DD, they must now stump up with the cash, if not Garlick wants to tell them to do one

He’s parting with more money once the club is sold and in the meantime relying on Dyche to keep the value up. Garlick hasn’t been investing for a long time, since we had that one summer and January where we brought in Hendrick Defour and Brady.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I have no idea what is going on with the takeover and there could be a whole number of reasons for the “delays”, but it is concerning me because we’re fast approaching January and you’d expect them to need to be in situ at least a few weeks to discuss budgets, players, etc. In some respects, coming on board very late December/early January could be more disruptive.
That said, I’d expect us to make some signings in January regardless. The value of the club falls off a cliff edge if we’re relegated, so you’d expect if talks are stalling for whatever reason, Garlick would take a gamble and invest to stay in the PL.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Can see both sides to this bickering. No question that a number of idiots are ruining the board. But the way it has been handled is straight from the "How not to deal with your problematic teenage child" textbook. Tell them not to do something and they will do it more. Hence 100 pages of messages with only 3 pages worth of genuine news.
Have real sympathy with those seeking to moderate the board but it's no good trying to reason with idiots. Close it down for a while and let the keyboard warriors drift off and find another forum.

These takeover talks with Alk capital have been on going since the summer not days or weeksdandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 5:39 pm

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
And do you think since the summer? Around 4-5 months is a long time, in a Covid affected world, for a £200m takeover to be completed? That’s 16-22 weeks. It’s not a huge period of time.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
So why would Mr Garlick being doing what you say he is???Top Claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 6:46 pmThey would obviously be no benefits.
We would be hurtling back to the lower leagues and the share value would plumit with the results on the field

Wasnt it mentioned earlier in this thread that several media outlets reported some weeks ago that talks had been going on then for around 12 months ?dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 7:24 pmAnd do you think since the summer? Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I’d be amazed if any transaction of this scale got completed in less than 12 months from talks starting. Particularly in a pandemic. It can take upwards of 6 months to sell a house!randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 7:29 pmWasnt it mentioned earlier in this thread that several media outlets reported some weeks ago that talks had been going on then for around 12 months ?
From CT’s latest update, my question is whether the bidders have had pandemic or performance-related cold feet and, if so, what that means for January/this season? The club needs lifting.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I am not saying he would be doing that on purpose. What I am saying is that if he doesn't pull his finger out in agreeing a sale and runs the club in the way he has over the last 12 months, that is the way the club will go

Steddy.
I’ve not spent today reading every article out there, or even this board. Or anything at all today in fact footy related. I run a business so I’m pretty busy. I’ve had good info. I’ve decided to pass it on. I’m not saying I’m forecasting any Euro lottery numbers or anything exciting. But the expectation of this significant shareholder is that the deal will be sorted by next week with ALK.
Cheers.

Agree I’ve not posted anything wholly ‘new’ or P&C. I wouldn’t do that.
No guarantees in any M&As until signed and cash transferred as we know. But willing buyer and willing seller certainly helps.
But it’s looking positive. Let’s hope we can get a bit of cash in gents and Sean can steady the ship.

Nothing to do with the FA but any potential new owners will have to pass the Premier League’s owners & directors test.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 12:03 amOnly dip into this thread occasionally so could anybody tell me if either of the prospective new owners have had FA clearance yet. Probably depends on those involved in a deal. Newcastle, for instance, announced their sale subject to the PL. Others get it all done before announcing anything.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
My concern is that if ALK get weary of the protracted negotiations or look elsewhere it might open the door for Farnell or some other party.

Or maybe they fully understand the complexities of completing such a deal and do not consider the negotiations to be protracted at all.
Just a thought.
