I was seriously concerned when I first saw the name Farnell and became petrified of him getting involved the more I learned. I don't think he'll be back.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Tony, do you share GBP's view that " the deal will be sorted by next week with ALK." ?
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
You would think future bidders for other clubs would want to use another legal representative if their bid is to have credibility and a buy in from fans.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:12 amI was seriously concerned when I first saw the name Farnell and became petrified of him getting involved the more I learned. Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Totally agree and I said many (many! ) pages back El Kashashy may or may not be a credible chap with loads of cash to spend, but his judgement appeared totally suspect from the off if he thought letting Farnell front his bid was good idea and that didn't do him any favours or show him in a good light and surely MG would think so too. IMO anyone letting Farnell front their bid has serious credibility issues.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I agree with this. The R rate for idiots is something like 3 at the moment, so it'll only get worse. We need a messageboard lockdown to drive it back under 1. We could even go outside on a Thursday to clap the moderators!welsbyswife wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 6:39 pmCan see both sides to this bickering. No question that a number of idiots are ruining the board. But the way it has been handled is straight from the "How not to deal with your problematic teenage child" textbook. Tell them not to do something and they will do it more. Hence 100 pages of messages with only 3 pages worth of genuine news.
Have real sympathy with those seeking to moderate the board but it's no good trying to reason with idiots. Close it down for a while and let the keyboard warriors drift off and find another forum.

When The Athletic reported that day of the bid from Elkashashy/Farnell being close I remember seeing the name Farnell and alarm bells going off in my head. I immediately googled his name and up popped Charlton. Within minutes, I'd contacted their supporters groups and had received a reply. The more I heard, the more worried I got and not just from Charlton either. On the subject of Charlton, their new owner, given what he found, has all but made it a mission to keep Farnell out of football.

Why is childish comedy inflating the page count not ok, but amateur-hour deal structure complexity speculation is? The latter still inflates the page count with spam content.

I was offered a job by THG once when they were really small. Didn’t take it because I was worried about their size and it was in Northwich, so quite a commute. Just read that and realised what a terrible decision it was

Wow. He’s actually a Burnley fan.
Could certainly do with a seat on the board.
But it sounds like he has other priorities and quite right too.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
There were suggestions initially that he was part of the ALK bid but I think that was because the ALK bid was revealed by Reuters in the same week as the Hut Group was floated.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 8:00 pmI mentioned Matthew Moulding a few weeks ago on this thread and DJW got a little uppity about it.

Noel Gallagher was asked about Buying Peter Swales out at City when they had just made the big time and he replied 'Why would I? I would just have some scally bricking my windows if it starts going wrong'.
You only have to look at how much stick Garlick got online and it hasn't even gone wrong here yet.
It's not for the feint hearted.

That we have some direct claim on the money he has made, that it’s a duty to reinvest into a club, and sport, that in all intents and purposes he potentially has no interest in.

His company did sponsor the club - it was in the 2008/09 promotion season when we had Hut.com on our shorts. But that doesn't mean he's a Burnley fan any more than when Euro Print sponsored at Ewood despite the owner of the company being a claret. To be honest, I don't know whether he's a Burnley fan or not.

I think in the articles announcing sponsorship he says he is a Burnley fan. Not aware of anything other than that.
If there is a delay, does anybody know what it is?

We were told it was signed last week.
I'm not familiar with takeovers of football clubs but it seems to be quite a long delay without any news.

They are saving the announcement until closer to Christmas and the club will package it as a big present to the supporters..along with an announcement that we have agreed terms with a player to sign straight away at the start of January.
The club video will show santa arriving at the Turf with a big sack...he will lower his hood..take off his beard and it will be Alan Pace ...oh and the player will be in the sack

Articles at the time of the short sponsorship said he was, and wanted to get more involved, so I think it's safe to say he is a fan.
