Why on the 4th of January? Could there be plans to announce soon after?

Funnily enough, as a Data Analyst, I'd love to apply.... Unfortunately I have no experience in a 'high-performance sports organisation'

Does doubt interesting. I’d love to know what goes on in these teams, how they work. Particularly the guys analysing the opposition.

When I read that job advertisement, it read slightly different from other Bfc job postings I’ve seen in the past. Albeit this one seems a tad more hand on and important towards the playing/recruitment side of things, it had a bit more of a sales pitch and positivity about it. Is this the American spin coming in to play already? Sounds like we are looking to evolve in that area and utilise more tools available to us

I’d apply if I was you. What an opportunity, if nothing you could possibly say that you interviewed for a position at BFC and get the experience of what goes on in those situations .StuffyClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 8:59 pmFunnily enough, as a Data Analyst, I'd love to apply.... Yeah, go for it Stuffy! What you got to lose? Even if you didn't quite fit the needs of the role this time, then at least you've registered your interest in the field. I would see your support for Burnley as a major positive.

Re: Re:ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I think the problem with that is that it could equally apply to a fashion model agent as it could a football data analyst. You need to be a bit more specific. The following website might help if you want to understand more about job profiles.Untinted Glasses wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 11:03 pmSo much bullshit required , Jesus . Looking at previous job adverts (yep, I really am that sad!) there is no way that this was typed by the same person. It does not have the same dour, ordinary turn of phrase. It leaped out at me reading it, and it’s night and day once actually compared.
I cannot help but feel (considering Alan Pace’s sports analytics background, which we’ve all researched) that this is the single biggest piece of evidence yet that not only are ALK close, but that it’s actually a done deal. After reading this posting I do, truly, believe that it is done.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
In all the excitement of reading the job description of a BFC Technical Analyst - and Boden's tweet, we seemed to have missed that the BBC reported, apparently, at 7pm yesterday evening as follows:
Burnley takeover: Mohamed El Kashashy and Chris Farnell pull out of potential deal
Egyptian businessman Mohamed El Kashashy and solicitor Chris Farnell have pulled out of a potential deal to buy Burnley.
The pair's bid was being considered by the Premier League, along with a rival offer from ALK Capital, but there has not yet been any ratification.
It is understood there has been no contact between El Kashashy, Farnell and Burnley chairman Mike Garlick for six weeks.
ALK's is now the only bid on the table.
Last week, a source told the BBC that the sports investment firm, run by United States-based businessman Alan Pace, wanted a deal finalised in time for Clarets manager Sean Dyche to be active in the January transfer window.
Burnley have been seriously weakened since last summer by releasing out-of-contract players and not replacing them.
However, victory over Wolves in their last Premier League game on Monday lifted them out of the top flight's relegation zone.
Photo of Turf Moor is also captioned: ALK Capital is now the only group in negotiations to buy Burnley.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55417601
****************************
What's interesting in this report is the line (underlined, above): "It is understood there has been no contact between El Kashashy, Farnell and Burnley chairman Mike Garlick for six weeks."
From memory, 6 weeks takes us back to mid-November. Maybe CT's contacts with Charlton fans and whoever CT speaks with at BFC had already assisted in ending the discussions with El Kashashy and Farnell.
Exciting times.

I'm not sure whether that's a new role or just replacing someone who's gone. I know we already had quite a few in data analysis.StuffyClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 8:36 pmPositive signs....

Interesting reading the requirements, they're going to be very much competing with a lot of businesses that pay hefty wages for those types of qualifications.

So we can expect the "challenging market" speech shortly after they offer the chosen candidate two and six an hour, who then chooses to sign for shelf stacking at Aldi....
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Is the takeover still imminent ?
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Impending or imminent, that is the question. Imminent is the most likely to happen 1st. I'll go for impending then

Or, “gathering pace” according to Lancs Live. Hard to believe such a fast-paced takeover saga could possibly be gathering more pace, but here you go:

Spoiler: this article also contains an insightful prediction that it could happen before or after New Year.

I have a feeling for today, but it will be when it will be, just revel in the fact we are moving in to a new and hopefully progressive era for our club.

I prefer imminent - it has a positive feel to it. As opposed to impending, which had a negative feel like impending doom...

Andy Jones of the Athletic (never heard of him but apparently he covers Burnley for The Athletic), states that “ALK are closing in. Talks will continue throughout Christmas.
As of last night, it is at an advanced stage but legal sign off & PL approval still required.”

Garlicks played a blinder IMO. Using the Egyptian bid to get the deal done with ALK. Wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if he was the one who got in touch with Farnell initially.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:28 amWouldn't surprise me, I think we are that close. Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Everything is relative. Imminent to most clubs would mean within a day or two but if it's anything like our transfer dealings, for Burnley it means within a month or two

Some signings early in the window would be pretty damn progressive, as would widening the market that we shop in.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Tbh we only really need a few signings in the short term
New centre half (with a view of replacing Tarks)
Wide player (preferably right sided)
Progressive centre mid would be a nice to have.
Also there is the possibility of shipping Vyds out and bringing in another striker

I don’t know.
I have been involved in a deal in this last month that was agreed, signed and announced but needed FCA approval complete. I imagine this could work in a similar fashion.

I know I'm in the minority, but I liked the way MG ran the club. Not for profit, and living within our sustainable means, was painful but necessary. I'd have plodded on as we were, and if that meant relegation so be it.
But the thought that we aren't going to the Egyptian bid, fills me with so much relief it makes the whole thing bearable.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I prefer not to get involved in other people’s politics. People do not always get on. I have never met MG but from my perspective he has been a Godsend to Burnley Football club. I feared when BK had to step down that the egos and ‘big ideas’ of some around Burnley that I do know would have undue influence and destroy the good work, so if only for keeping the ship steady I believe we owe MG a great deal of thanks, but if others feel differently they no doubt have their own reasons and are entitled to their opinions.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:20 pmI know I'm in the minority, but I liked the way MG ran the club.
