ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Where were the Americans when we were dieing in droves from dysentery caused by the Bee Hole End bogs ? It's ok bombing Nagasaki and Hiroshima to save lives, it's ok helping destroying nazi Germany to free Europe from tyranny, but when WE really needed them they were not there.

I’m sure they are because I rarely post trying to be funny.
I simply can’t compete on a comedic level with the ‘Twix’ and ‘Next Week’ crew. If you throw in the gang that say ‘Messi’ on a post about potential signings then I figured it’s best I don’t try and be as funny as they are.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Some sentimental nonsense on here about how good the catering used to be on the Turf. I remember getting on early one day and walked up the path to the Longside to see a load of pies dumped in crates in between the shop and the toilets on the floor. Trouble is, that's exactly where people used to **** against the wall when the queue for the toilet was too much to stand!! Never had another pie from the turf after that. Let's face it, the catering has always been rubbish and there's never going to be much money in that side of things in Burnley. No real demand for it. Like someone said, pie and peas and a decent pint is all people really want.

I'll accept there might have been a bit more variety but the quality wasn't great. That's probably why they stopped selling them! Not many people bought them really.

Plus, I don't think people ate anywhere near as much take away food back in the day. In our family mum would often make a big meat and potato pie on a match day and we'd have that when 3 generations of us got back after the match.

Maybe a daft question but does anyone have a ballpark figure that may be available to SD for the transfer window if all completed on the takeover ?

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Might be no more than he's got available without it. It's something we don't know. All we know is they are purchasing enough shares to have control of the club and we will then have to wait to see how they run things. Having said that, speculation does suggest there will be a bit more to spend in the window once it's gone through.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 10:17 amMaybe a daft question but does anyone have a ballpark figure that may be available to SD for the transfer window if all completed on the takeover ?

Did someone not say Boden tweeted it would be done before KO today? It looks from Tony's post that the wait is nearly over. Hopefully look forward to a good game at Leeds and a bright future. UTC.

From what I've been told it was never going to be before today's game. Not sure why anyone would expect it to be done before an away game to be honest. I don't think it will be done before the Sheffield United game either but I do think the wait is all but over.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 10:34 amDid someone not say Boden tweeted it would be done before KO today? I would sooner the new owners purchased just enough shares for control of the club rather then the lot hopefully then funds would be in place to support SD.
My share would still then be a family heirloom.

5live presenter said in the build up to the game that the takeover had "fallen through". Presume she just had her wires crossed as it hadn't gone through last week?

I don't believe anything Boden says. Nothing against him at all, just don't think he has any good sources. It must be hard for him to be fair, hes trying to make his living for a local paper following a football club that is notorious at keeping secrets. He will pick up snippets elsewhere and poss from on here, good luck to him. It's quite clear CT has the inside track on here with the very good relationships. UTC.

At least when it’s complete the thread can be closed to prevent cheap point scoring and tit for tat space filling posts like the above. The debate was about club improvements by the potential new owners including catering where the prices are too high for what is being offered (2 examples of which were highlighted). The above post offers nothing whatsoever as per usual. There has only ever been one poster on my foe list but you’ll be added to it so I don’t need to bother seeing your pointless reply.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 10:01 amI’m sure they are because I rarely post trying to be funny.

Back on topic sounds like good news we are nearly there and we can hopefully have a bit more optimism for the January window.

While, for example, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Japan and other countries consider Sunday as the first day of the week, and while the week begins with Saturday in much of the Middle East, the international ISO 8601 standard and most of Europe has Monday as the first day of the week.

But for balance CT has also stated many times he has no inside info on the deal, so let's all just wait, and not hang on the word of anyone on here.

Before the start of today's game, the camera zoomed in on a gent wearing a BFC mask. I am sure it was not MG. Any one noticed/recognised him?

Perhaps things have changed, but you said no knowledge of the deal. It matters not, it will happen when people away from here decide it will.

To be fair to Boden, he gets most things right. But he's usually the last to get the news out there. I don't think his clickbait company allow him much time on the Clarets and other papers like the Athletic will have far more resources for getting scoops on the Clarets.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I've got to know Andy Jones (The Athletic) well over the past year but I also know Chris Boden well and have done for years. Sadly it is a clickbait company and that's what our local newspapers have become sadly. The Burnley Express has been a brilliant resource for me over the years and I go back all the way to Keith McNee in the 1960s through Peter Higgs, Granville Shackleton, Edward Lee and Chris, all of them very helpful to me.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 4:06 pmTo be fair to Boden, he gets most things right.
