Hopefully we can make 1 or 2 additions that will challenge the starting line up
I don't envisage it being much more than that to be honest. It's not the right time to conduct your transfer business but a couple of astute signings would help us through and then look at what's needed in the summer.

Sean Dyche will have his "wish list" but, it is doubtful that any new owner will walk in and empty their wallet on the table

Could they be at tonight’s game? I know Tony said they could be at a home game very soon. Or have I dreamt that? :?
That was the plan but apparently not, they won't have access until the deal has been concluded. I'm not reading anything into that other than the current restrictions which limits the number of guests.

How much are people expecting us to spend in January, now that this looks like going through?

I feel some are going to have that anti climax feeling.
Compared to the last 3 years, it would be impossible for it to be anti-climatic, unless we signed nobody at all.

My first post on this thread. I think this is great news for our club and I just hope we see immediate financial backing for Sean Dyche. Our squad is paper thin and aging by the day. This could be a massive turning point for our immediate and medium term future: it could be be a very Happy New Year indeed.

Its fantastic news. In one sense I'm a little nervous with how we are going to be run by what is a complete unknown to me, in another sense absolutely elated that we dodged the Farnell bullet/atom bomb. The club does need to be run differently if we want to be at the top table. We cant just keep being circa £35M in the black each year as that is never going to fund progression and we become stagnant and dilapidate year after year as the squad gets older. Obviously the current owners have done the best they can and you have go to take your hat of to them, but we need a fresh impetus now that can generate funds with what we have better than we have done in the past. We live in a small town in-between 3 football powerhouses and another massive city and fan base in Leeds, the footfall is not going to increase so revenue needs to be generated by dealing in champagne money and not lemonade money for advertising etc, which I hope the new owners already have one eye on , as their must be something they can see that our current owners couldn't see that was returning a cost neutral season rather than more profitable to speculate.

BBC Sport: Burnley takeover: ALK Capital confident of completing deal this week
By Simon Stone

Prospective Burnley owners ALK Capital are confident of completing their takeover of the club by the end of the week.

It is understood ALK managing director Alan Pace is in Lancashire to sort out the final details.

The deal may be ratified before Burnley play Fulham in a crucial Premier League game on Sunday.

Pace has passed the Premier League's owners and directors' test and intends to take a hands-on role at the club.

ALK is an American sports investment firm headed up by Pace, former president of Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake.

It is not known what extent current Burnley chairman Mike Garlick will remain involved at Turf Moor once he has sold his near 50% stake in the club.

The news will come as a boost to Clarets boss Sean Dyche as ALK had already stated their intention to help him in next month's transfer window.

Burnley are currently 17th in the table, two points above Fulham who occupy the first relegation place. They entertain bottom club Sheffield United at Turf Moor later this evening.

To be fair, it said "52 mins ago" when I saw it on BBC at 16:00.

So, yes, the guy who has the job of watching what Sky put out, was a little slow in responding...

To be honest, I was looking for news on Sheff Utd and their positive tests. The BBC has an article about 18 positive tests in the Premier League this week. There's a line about Sheff Utd - but nothing on their pre-match thread to say that the game doesn't go ahead.

Exciting times.

That's a bit I don't understand yet.
Pace will be a director not the owner, unless that is , ALK is funded by borrowed money and he is in control of that money.

It's the Premier League Owners and Directors test - you cannot be a director without passing that.

Yes, I understand the test, but it's about two different positions.
That's why the Newcastle deal fell through. Amanda Stavley passed the directors test but the 'owner' failed the test.

Then she could have been a director had any deal gone through. Basically each individual has to be passed be they owner or director.

well, we seemingly can't rely on the fitness of either Brady or JBG, Vydra needs to leave and be replaced and we struggle creatively. Very much wishful thinking but we really could do with 3 and 2 of whom are starters

You obviously think they care about the club and trust that they do, yet you don’t appear to trust the same people to find a suitable successor?

I live in America. One of the most corrupt country’s on earth. I know nothing about the buyers either as a company or as individuals. I hope the sellers have done their due diligence then done it again and just for good luck done it again. Hopefully Burnley FC will soon be in the hands of a fine and reputable company who will have nothing but good intent. Time will tell

as Tony and DJW etc have pointed out many times, the PL has a product to protect, they no longer let just anybody buy a club - lessons have be learned it seems and hopefully we will be the beneficiaries of it

You obviously think they care about the club and trust that they do, yet you don’t appear to trust the same people to find a suitable successor?
Won't be long before we all find out mate.. Hope I'm worrying about nothing. 8-)

as Tony and DJW etc have pointed out many times, the PL has a product to protect, they no longer let just anybody buy a club - lessons have be learned it seems and hopefully we will be the beneficiaries of it
Indeed they do have a product to protect. As I said time will tell

I took a lot of advice when I was investigating Farnell and was told from various sources that the Premier League have a very robust owners & directors test, unlike the Football League.

Some people say exciting times ahead ,personally I think more on the lines of worrying times ahead.
I've only ever known Burnley being run by people that care.I hope the new owners do.Fingers crossed.
There's no reason to suspect the new owners have anything other than good intentions, bit like you I'm fingers crossed.
With Mike Garlick we knew where we were, with the takeover we are on a magic carpet ride to God knows where.

Fingers 🤞

No I'm not at all happy of what has being going on at our club and change was needed. The thing is I'm just not a fan of American owners being in charge. Anyway hopefully onwards and upwards Tony as like you say something had to be done.
I can understand that. I'm nervous about it but also excited because we were heading one way only under the current regime with Dyche certainly not set to be here much longer.

I get the feeling if Jeff Bezos took over and handed the manager 200 million every transfer window and we went on to win the league certain people would still be unhappy
