no - business as usual for existing deals - though it is possible to buy yourself out of deals if you have something better lined up - Chelsea and Everton have done that previously.

I wish we had an understanding of what sort of finance they have behind them. It would be very interesting to have an idea of whether we will still be trawling for bargains from the lower divisions or whether we can seriously compete for the best from the Championship and abroad.

The Ducker piece in the Telegraph a couple of days ago looks accurate from what I've heard - I would suspect Ducker has picked that up from the Elkashashy/Farnell side. I've spoken to someone who is in contact with ALK and he also used the words very close.
Very exciting and great if it's not Farnell the plonker!

I'm hoping we can at least compete with the likes of Southampton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brighton etc when it comes to getting players in. Relatively recent examples of Southampton getting Che Adams and Villa getting Matty Cash simply because they could offer slightly more money and slightly higher wages was extremely frustrating.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Likewise. Would be great to see a few signings in January to give us a lift. Priorities for me would be a right-sided creative midfielder/winger to take some of the pressure from Dwight, and a pacey/strong right back. Ideally early in January, not the last day!Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:06 pmI'm hoping we can at least compete with the likes of Southampton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brighton etc when it comes to getting players in. What a boost that would be heading in to the second half of the season.

Presume the existing board are happy with the level of investment set to come in. Well we hope so anyway!jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:02 pmI wish we had an understanding of what sort of finance they have behind them. We are definitely taking about different occasions, another poster confirms it above. You thought it was happening then it didn’t and people have mentioned it a few times since. I know what I posted. I know what was said. I’ve explained it here. You can either choose to accept that what I’m saying is correct or you can continue getting it wrong.
If what you are saying is correct then it involves another poster and not me. It really is as simple as that. No more please, I’m not going to allow myself to be made out to be a liar when I’ve explained it.

Was this around the time Flood took became involved?
I think someone started a thread claiming we’d signed Lee. Where his name came from I’m not sure.
I think we did sign someone else the same day though.

Hi Tony, I’m not making you out to be a liar, that’s certainly not my intention. The post I’m referring to is obviously just a different one, I think it’s the same one that the other poster also remembered. We have kind of digressed from the point anyway. My point is, things change in football very quickly.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:32 pmI know what I posted. I know what was said. I’ve explained it here. I suspect only two of the seven directors will have had any real involvement in this given they have around 80% of the company.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:24 pmPresume the existing board are happy with the level of investment set to come in. Well we hope so anyway!

Well £1 in investment into the team is far more than all of the current directors have invested in terms of "their money"Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:24 pmPresume the existing board are happy with the level of investment set to come in. Well we hope so anyway!
Once the board sell out, any fan who has attended for 1 season will have put more money into the club than the whole of the current board put together..

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I'm absolutely certain the Telegraph article is accurate. It was written by James Ducker who is an associate of James Fletcher who owns the PR company that Farnell uses. My first thought on reading it was that the info had come from Farnell who had learned he'd missed out. I've heard nothing since to suggest my first thoughts were anything but correct.
Nothing is done until it is done, but I'm confident (if confident is the right word) that we are likely to become American owned in the near future, although, of course, things can change. I just hope they don't change back in Farnell's favour.

I think that even if we can compete transfer funds-wise and wages-wise against those clubs, we will still be the least attractive club compared to them to potential signings.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:06 pmI'm hoping we can at least compete with the likes of Southampton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brighton etc when it comes to getting players in.

If we do have money come January, it wouldn't surprise me to see some often linked players that Dyche clearly wants that we perhaps previously couldn't afford arrive.
Joakim Mæhle as an example.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Having waded through much of this thread to refresh my thoughts in recent days, don't want Farnell/ElKalashashy anywhere near the club; feel far more confident in the Pace / ALK set up especially with Pace's previous sports links and MLS success. Can't find any reference to ElKalash having the slightest interest in sport in his life previously besides going for a swim. League position could be a concern for attracting potential recruits in Jan, so really is a big incentive to get points on the board.

My fear all along has been that EK & CF didn't want to actually win, they want to lose in a style more suited to Donald Trump and claim they have been duped !
It may not be the last we hear from them.

Small Northern town, small club (capacity wise), not the highest wages, quite often favourites for relegation, outsiders view of us possibly being a racist area/club, lack of recognition by the press and TV, the view held by many (including some of our fans) that it'll be the end of Burnley if/when the manager leaves, etc. But of course I could be (and hope that I am) wrong.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:57 pmBased on what? We’re Burnley - simple.
Just think about this, wherever you go on holiday you ALWAYS see a Burnley shirt. Can you honestly say you remember seeing any shirt of one of the above teams ever because I can’t.

If we are competing on wages and salaries, as was the original comparison, why do we need to compete in other areas, aside from being able to sell ourselves to prospective players.
All the areas mentioned have some terrible places in and around them. Aside from Villa and Newcastle, I don’t think we get significantly less press than the others.
It’s up to us to sell ourselves and be competitive, not just in terms of salary or transfer fees. I think our own PR is lacking but hopefully that’s an area that new owners will address.
Some may perceive us as racist - others will have watched Ben Mee and seen something very different.

Some people revel in the “everything is **** mentality” and it’s prevalent in many posts on this thread.
Many factors will affect the club a player chooses and so if the pay is the same we’ve as good of a chance as anybody.
Look at Andre Gray, he chose us over a big city club in Bristol, we have beaten other clubs to players multiple times.
