I dip into this every now and then when bored.
It seems that currently DJW is getting stick for stating things as done deals or facts which (so far) never happen.

I have said it before - if I was actually "in the know" the last thing I would do is blurt it out on here under what seems to be my real name?
What is actually in it for you to be the first to post something which then turns out to be true? A bit shallow, surely?

Anyway, helps pass the day sometimes.

Everyone is concerned about this due to the fact that ALK Capital will want to make money from it. The club needs to be successful to be profitable. Why would it not be a better picture financially and potentially competitively?

The only concern I have is the lack of adoration for our club and the loss of any identity we have with supporters owning the club.
Not again. How many times does this need to be discussed?

Been going on a lot longer than two months
We've been looking for investment longer than 2 months, that doesn't mean investment has been incoming longer than that.

Even if you know it has, you kept it to yourself. DJW didn't, so as far as ALK is concerned it is his word I will take.

I don’t see how you can’t see that an acquisition of BFC wouldn’t be a front for wider business activity across the North. Even the owners of Man City, with their wealth, use it as a front to enable them to access the Manchester business infrastructure and community’s. If you look closely you can see the lines being drawn financially between Leeds and Manchester.

A devolved North is widely accepted as inevitable in local and national government. The Northern powerhouse is already in situ and is growing. There’s loads online to keep you busy reading about it.

A devolved Lancashire, imo will happen, it’s being discussed at both local and national level. Not full Independence ala Scotland, but certainly a breakaway of some sort.

You can see Burnham already peacocking, as he has been for months. You can’t move on Twitter without a king in the north comment or meme.

We can agree, disagree, or agree to disagree.

I’ve never said it was my deal, I given what I knew and was told. There’s a hundred moving parts in these deals, brokers, legal, advisors, vendors, acquisition teams and so on. Everyone knows a part of the picture.

I spoke last year, as did others about the club being prepared for sale. Yes, we openly sought investment 36 odd months ago, but it was clear that financially we shut up shop, to prep for a takeover at the end of last year.
Do you think Sheik Mansour has a particular interest in investing in the north of England? Really? Maybe he’s got involved in one or two things for PR reasons but all he’s really interested in is his trophy asset, which is Manchester City.

I fail to see why you are so sure there will be devolved government or even, with the presence of local, regional and city councils and metro Mayors, there is a need for another tier of regional government. I’m even more puzzled as to what this has to do with owning Burnley Football Club.

As for the takeover, I am totally open minded. It certainly seems that Garlick is either unwilling or unable to provide the funds to maintain the club at its current level so we must look for other sources of finance. Equally, we more than most clubs do not have to look far to see the consequences of getting into bed with with owners who are either incompetent or have ulterior motives or both - think Blackburn, Bury, Bolton, Blackpool or Wigan, to name just the local ones.

I know nothing about Alan Pace other than the limited information available on the internet. It seems he fell in love with the beautiful game as a young man working in Europe, and maybe he is looking fulfilling a long- held dream to own a top flight football club. He also stokes me as being a wealthy, rather than super-rich man, in which case his resources are likely to be limited.

I do, however, have first hand experience of working for private equity owned businesses and, believe me, they are only interested in one thing. Indeed, I find it very difficult to understand how the PE structure could work in football - particularly for a club like ours at its current starting point.

So yes, we need investment, but I’m just not convinced these guys are the answer.

I personally couldn't give a toss who owns the club as long as it is successful.

I don't get all this rubbish about loss of identity and how great it is having fans owning the club.
We had 7 seasons in old 4th division with fans running the club, then the vast majority of our supporters deserted the club.
The only thing the supporters want is success, the majority don't care who and where the money as come from

That’s not the point of those who would be against it though. They believe in the end it would end in tears. There are many examples that would support such a view. There are also many examples that prove otherwise.

How do you become a prominent poster?
By posting a lot.
Someone with for example 30,000 posts, is more prominent on the board than somebody with 40 posts
Somebody who posts everyday is more prominent on the board than someone who just posts on match day.

That's fine - one difference between him and me is that I check and double check things before I go public with them and ensure I'm in a position to do so. There are things you should keep to yourself and that's what I do. If you choose to take the word of someone who can't wait to pass on a bit of gossip he might have heard by chance, then by all means do so.

Whilst I can understand and appreciate that stance, this board would be a very boring place if everyone played by those rules.

If everyone did that, it would just be easier to follow Chris Boden on twitter.

I am very confident of my fact checking. I have been consistent, and whilst yes lots of things cannot be said, what I have has been consistent and factual.

I think, and forgive me if I am wrong, but you naysaid me about this at the beginning and then flipped when you’d done your fact checking.

I don’t really mind anyone having an conflicting opinions about this, I am not here for my own ego. I enjoy this board and the conversations we have.

I'm just doubting it the longer it goes on. It's reminding me of that thread.

But even if it does happen, from the hearsay, it won't make a difference on the pitch anyway. At least not anytime soon.

But that's what I mean - I'm no financial expert, but talked to people who are, and read and listened, and it looks from the outside looking in, that shares will be bought, but no actual investment will come in - and they will be taking loans in order to invest. That, to us as fans, means bugger all. It means the potential spend is the same. At least in the short term.

I’d honestly be amazed if we enter bids for players Dyche didn’t want.

Unless Rigg just enters phantom bids to keep his skills fresh

Possibly a target from others at the club which is where the story could have come from

That has to be good news. The last thing any club wants is players who are not going to be part of the plans.

Quote taken from bodens article after the window had shut
As I understand it, bids have been made for players which the manager did not want, and while the manager can often be stubborn in terms of the profile of player he covets, you can't argue with what he has then got out of them.

That has to be good news. The last thing any club wants is players who are not going to be part of the plans.
It is good news but its also rather worrying doing stuff behind the managers back. Any idea who the other players were ?

That's fine. I've just always had a problem with attention seeking bullshitters.
So you attention seek by trying to start a political argument?

Bizarre. Cannot for the life of me understand why we would place multi-million £ bids for players the manager didn’t want to be part of his team.

I wasn't doing either of those things.

It was a simple observation.

I’m done,

I’ll leave you with Repton
That's a real shame. It's rare we have a poster in the know on a subject and preapared to share a little of that knowledge without putting anyone in trouble,

Don't let the littl' old Burnley, this is a local club for local people BS posters put you off contributing.

I get the feeling that the people stupid enough to believe anything Daniel posts are the same people who voted for Boris Johnson!

Stupid comment. 60% did. Many labour voters but not communists like you. And why try to make it political anyway?
