We've pulled off a coup and sold him back to Brighton for £15 million. It was the 'He revels in the hole from behind' that sealed it!

I thought I was the new Hendrix but I was just another left-handed guitarist.

There's probably scope for a full 11 names regularly misspelt on here - ably managed by Shaun of course:

Off the top of my head

Dale Stevens
Jeff Hendricks
Chris Woods
Dwight O'Neill
Eric Peters

Started his first game after 1 training session and gave us possibly one of the worst debuts in a burnley shirt. He then retained his place for the next game keeping Brownhill out on the right and again was well off the mark. Its fair to say Brownhill has been a stand out in the middle and improved game after game there, so why is he being put out on the right for a 31 year old?

I think it’s fair to say we have our new scapegoat. We’ve now officially replaced Hendrick.

Not a criticism but you can tell Stephens is used to playing in a three in midfield. Doesn’t give the ball away and much quicker in possession than Cork but too deep and miles away from Westwood.

Stephens is a decent enough player but just not what we wanted as in he’s pretty similar to the two other 30 something(ish) defensive midfielders that we’ve got. If anything it will just hinder Benson’s development as he won’t get a sniff now.

Yes, but we've absolutely no idea when Cork might be fit, and how long it might take him- if ever - to get back o previous form. Our squad would look really weak without Stephens, and I don't think we could take a gamble on Benson filling in for Cork until - say - the next transfer window.

Hopefully just rusty, and let's be honest there were several as bad as him.

Hopefully he is 3rd/4th choice as Brownhill looks far busier and better in CM.

A top class winger in required

The only effect he's had for me so far is to take away everything Brownhill was giving.

Then again, I didn't rate him at Brighton.

No point criticising the bloke. He played last week having just joined us and must have been immersed this week with the infighting within the club. He wasn't a bad player at Brighton who are a better side than us

Thought he grew into the game and played well in the first 20 mins of the second half before being substituted.
I agree Brownhill better in the middle, but this is what you get with a lack of available players.

Just a player we didn't need but a panic buy to get a body through the door - he gas already pushed brownhill out of his natural position and stopped benson's progression

I really rated him at Brighton when he played next to Kayal, and I was desperate for us to sign him in 2016.

However, why would Brighton let him go to a PL rival for a nominal fee? Because they knew he couldn’t offer them anything anymore. Can he offer us something? Early days, but it looks anything but encouraging.

Seems many are hoping he can get league tied too.

This. Good 4 years ago but Kayal was the better player. The ship should have sailed. A pretty desperate signing and a player we just did not need. He’s offered nothing so far.

Aren't they in debt and have spent millions? Probably the reason. When you take into account the money received per finishing position in the Premier League, I do wonder whether it's worth it unless you get into the Champions League.
