I’m amazed people on here think Pope Tarkowski and Dwight are some world class superstars, very good players for us.

to be fair, keepers have made mistakes in most games today so the conditions haven't helped for sure.

If we had a squad to choose from with better quality I'm sure McNeil would be on the bench now, looks lost

I'm listening to this. But for those watching:
The games I've seen this season, I'd say our work off the ball is the worse in the Dyche era. Anyone agree?

we have had poor movement off the ball.

When we came up we worked harder than most teams and that made up for the lack of quality, the rest of the teams now work as hard if not harder than we do and also have the quality - if we don't add some serious quality we will go down this season for sure

I didn't say he was... i was trying to make the point that your statement about Dwight being lighter and slower than St Maximim so therefore inferring he's a worse player/we are a worse team because of that is irrelevant. St Maximim is quicker and stronger than Messi, so your point kind of drifts off into the ether....you didn't get my point.
That's ok tho... i have explained it so you don't have to think that hard anymore, just read. Speak up if you are struggling with that too.... some teachers on here, they will help you out.

BTW, Messi wasn't playing in this game, how could you NOT know that?

I'm off to bed.... looks like the kids are starting to come out...

Totally different players. Can't compare the two. If you put nonsense into an equation you get nonsense out of it.

McNeil is a fantastic player who needs to be managed accordingly.

In a perfect world, they both play for the same team. When they turn up, they’d compliment each other very well.

Which is basically my way of saying we need some 1v1 ability on the right wing.

I agree.

However, he's a fantastic player. Anyone who can't see that must know very little when it comes to identifying fantastic players. He's 20 years old and is forced to play every single minute because he's the single creative outlet in a PL team. He's been flogged to death.

It's like having pocket aces and a 7 2 in a game of poker. One is clearly head and shoulders above the other.

It says more about inflated transfer fees.

Sigurdsson joined Everton for £45-50 million.
Rodriguez has joined them for over half that.

Only one of them could be called World class.

Fair point, Rodriguez is insanely good, one of the finest attacking midfield players in the world. Very strange to see Real under use him, same with Coutinho at Barca, although I think Coutinho has now started to feature heavily under Koeman.

If it was a top trumps card game I'd say:-

Skill : Dwight 8. S. Maxim 8

Ability to withstand a challenge without collapsing to the floor like a big Nancy Dwight 7 S. Maxim 1

Dwight has no skill unfortunately just heads for the corner flag when receiving the ball. Taylor is being let down on that side massively.

St maximim generally has the **** kicked out of him as a tactic. The summariser last night clearly had not watched newcastle's game at West ham where St. M pulled them to pieces and declan rice and others chopped St. M to pieces as it was the only way they could stop him. Hence the injury which unfortunately had worn off so that he could play us.
West ham looked a lot worse against them than we did btw.

How about Dwight McNeil is a good player going through a tough patch and needs a bit of support? No surprises in who started this thread.

I do worry about Dwight's confidence. When he is on his game and running at defenders he is a nightmare, but Maximin is trickier for sure.

That said Dwight's crossing is brilliant, far better than Maximin.

The difference, as many people have pointed out, is that other teams have worked out that if they shut out Mcneil, then we look completely devoid of creating chances.

I just hope Mcneil finds that confidence again to beat players and whip in those deadly crosses.

He miles off it the moment dwight keeps drifting inside to.. not sure if its tactics but seems like CT has to run the whole left side on his own attacking and defensively simply not good enough at the moment he's to passive in a game..

While we have been sitting on our hands and standing still as a club regarding transfers, other clubs (even those lower down the pyramid like Newcastle and Brighton) have brought in players with power, pace and trickery that can change a match and win them the game. Also, that can entertain and get the crowd off their feet if they were allowed back in.

To me St Maximin is a bit of a throwback to the footballing entertainers of my childhood. He is an opposition player you end up watching just to see what he will do next.

Unlike Dwight, he doesn’t do any tracking back, Bardsley went past him and he never made any effort to win the ball. Bruce must say to him to say his energy when they are on the attack.

Brighton also have a player in Tariq Lamptey that adds pace and trickery to change a game. Something BFC is sadly lacking at the moment.

Agree about St.Max being a throw back. I do like watching him play, but not against us. They don't expect to track back , if he does it's a bonus. Unfortunately, in our system we can't afford to have anybody like that. I don't know how we can expect Dwight to keep carrying our main attacking hopes. We do need somebody to take some of the burden off him.
