Our Championship squad next year

If we are relegated, how do we possibly bounce back if this is what we are left with? I used transfermarkt for contract lengths.

Sales - Wood Taylor Pope Tarkowski McNeil

Out of contract - Rodriguez, Brady, JBG, Cork, Pieters, Vydra, Lowton, Long, Bardsley, Dunne.

Remaining:

GK- Peacock Farrell, Norris
RB - 0
CB - Gibson? Mee
LB - 0
LM - 0
CM - Brownhill Stephens Westwood
RM - 0
ST - Barnes

7 players + Gibson, we desperately need to sort out the contracts ASAP which means we are likely gonna be extending contracts for players we’d have likely preferred to replace.

It’s gonna be a huge rebuild and who knows if Dyche will remain to rebuild?

This season is enormous for us, if only we’d have backed Dyche adequately, now we’re gonna need some extreme luck.

We may very well go down this season. But the doomsday predictions on here, considering we’ve got a squad about as strong as the one which started last season, have been nothing short of hysterical.

Going down is never an option. I can't believe how blase some on here are thinking we will simply 'bounce back up'.

Ok I will play along.

It's exciting isn't it. If your sales go ahead we will bring in around 150m to rebuild a squad.

If not we will have 2 former top scorers in the championship in Wood and Vydra with Jay Rod not far behind.
The goalkeeping department looks very good from what I have seen.
Ben Mee won't get outpaced that often.

The youngsters will be a year more advanced and closer to a first team place that is more likely in the league below.

Why on earth would you use transfermarkt? There's a very good site called UpTheClarets.com (have you heard of it? ) that's written by someone with a lot more local knowledge than transfermarkt, and that says that Rodriguez, Pieters and Vydra all have club options for an extra year.

Besides which, in your long "everything that can possibly go wrong will go wrong" rant, you forgot to mention that Turf Moor is going to be destroyed by a football-pitch sized asteroid before next summer. At least, it's not impossible and it would be bad news, so I think we can assume it will happen?

The biggest worry is who replaces Dyche should he decide to leave, on paper we'd have a decent Championship squad, even with a few departures we would be one of the favourites for promotion, however who'd be the man to mould us into a team in the way Sean did during his Championship tenure.

I could only see Pope & Tarks being certain to exit should the worst happen, and we should be looking at reasonable amounts for both.

Of the ooc players I'd keep Cork, Dunne, Jay Rod, Long, Vydra, and possibly Pieters, the rest can go for me.

We may not need to make wholesale changes if some of the youngsters continue developing as they have been, and if one or two can come through the system, that could save us forking out unnecessarily.

Maybe the Americans will change us to a Baseball team? No need to worry about the Championship. Bring on the Dodgers! Decent away fortnight! Leisure, start the engines!!

I didn’t say everything that can go wrong will go wrong, I stated the need for the board to sort out the contracts ASAP and highlighted why.

I also emphasised the importance of this season, we aren’t relegated after 3 games and the window isn’t quite shut for us just yet, there’s still hope we can turn it around in the window and in the league.

I also started the post with “IF WE ARE RELEGATED” not “WHEN”, you see the difference yet?

Where in your lengthy post was the bit of brightness that wasn't a sign of everything going wrong?

Anyway, you haven't answered my question. If Turf Moor is hit by an asteroid, what do we do about it?

(Incidentally, as you have evidently failed to notice the Board has always been very good at getting players to sign extended contracts. That's one of the reasons the squad is getting older, in case you hadn't noticed - that when we get a really good player, we tend to keep him.)

Also if we did get 150m in from sales, how good would it be to get a progressive manager in who would buy 10 15m 23/24yr olds on the upward curve?

If we go down they won't have done their job so why would they be in such high demand?

Dyche wasn’t particularly pleased with how quickly the board sorted out player contracts, I’d like clarity on who’s staying and going immediately, I’m not confident in players producing when they’re unclear on where their future lies, I don’t see how having 10 first team players in their final year is a positive thing at all, detrimental to our current league season.

Maybe a good analogy to make would be if her local NHL Hockey team was on the verge of relegation from the NHL to AHL. Of course relegation isn't a factor in hockey, but the thought of that to a keen Hockey fan might be relatable

If we go down we desperately need to freshen the squad up with some younger blood. The problem with all these 30+ year olds is that they're financially made for life, will they have the hunger for another slog in the Championship, just to get promoted to a league which they know will be a big struggle for them.

Its been bad planning for a couple of years as all we seem to do is extend contracts no matter what the age - lets hope some of these young lads are going to be good enough but not looking good.

Plus on top of a recruitment drive over the summer of trying to bring in around 14 player's we will also be looking to bring in a new manager and his backroom staff (one of the biggest losses to the club would be Billy Mercer) that's one hell of a job for who ever owns the club

I’m not saying Dyche wouldn’t walk out with his entire back room staff as we all know that can happen, but I’m genuinely interested to know where you think he would walk out to? He’s currently paid 3.5 million I believe. Would he walk out for a 75% pay cut or do you think his wage will seriously reduce enough due to relegation for him to think it’s not worth it anymore?

Billy Mercer has been at the club since Brian Laws' days. No reason he wouldn't stay on as head goalkeeping coach, if offered of course

Gibson is no loss, Lennon isn't a great loss, Brownhill is a more than adequate replacement for Hendrick, and the drop in quality of the third goalkeeper is of little account. Who else have we lost?

The squad is a couple of men down. The first team is not.

Incidentally, they say every year that the league has got stronger. Surely if that was true it would mean that men like Mee who have been around for years would now be totally off the pace. "Teams have spent billions" is not the same as "Teams have got better".

I think the league has got stronger.

Leeds look like theyll be easily safe, Villa who scraped staying up by the skin of their teeth look a far better side, West ham have started decent, and are 6 points ahead of us already.

Hopefully WBA and Fulham fill 2 of the 3 places and its acase if only being better than 1 other side.

It's ok saying we are as strong with everyone back, the truth is we cannot bank on having a fully fit 11 every week, an injury on 1 of the wings or CB, even for just half a dozen games could spell disaster.

We are looking rather weak at the back and not great going forward either and we have 2 nailed on first teamers out, just 2.

Think the next 3 games will give a better idea of the league, and the strength of our squad, I really do think we need 4 points for it to be classed as a just below average start.
