Our no 14, james, always goes for the easy option, pass back, despite being in some good situations with space in front of him. Wish we had Tripps back.

Think pickford might have kept a clean sheet tonight, nick hasn't had much to do.

Commentator on ESPN keeps calling Barnes the Burnley man.
I'm sure that pleases Leicester fans

Re: England vs Wales
Good to see Paul Barnes avoided the "Brooklyn Beckham" offspring naming trope.
Panama Joes VIP room Barnes doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

No he hasn't, but he can only do what's asked of him and he's done that.Barlickclaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 9:36 pmThink pickford might have kept a clean sheet tonight, nick hasn't had much to do.

All 3 have gone to an extra 30 minutes, as has Norway-Serbia, which the winners of Scotland-Israel will play.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 9:30 pmScotland, NI & Ireland all 3 mins from pen shoot outs.

Iceland through to the final play-off game, I've no idea who they play next up though.

Scotland, NI through, Republic out
Re: England vs Wales
I really do like watching Grealish though, he seems to get targeted a lot and never retaliates, seems calm but must be seething on the inside at times. Additionally he does seem to be able to around players easy and a few times. Not just today, I have thought players look like they really want to just kick him hard and he appears to really frustrate some defenders/midfielders, I would like to see him in the team or at least the squad on a regular basis.
Do we think Nick now gets to keep the jersey and the others have to force him out, or will it be back to business as usual?

Re: England vs Wales
Grealish was my MOTM tonight, Wales just couldn't handle him, and he must be a regular on the teamsheet now, he offers England that creative spark which has been sorely lacking in recent games.KateR wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 11:19 pmI really do like watching Grealish though, he seems to get targeted a lot and never retaliates, seems calm but must be seething on the inside at times. Pope kept a clean sheet which is all you can ask, and he looked comfortable in this environment, however Pickford will return for the Belgian match I'm sure.

Re: England vs Wales
As Tiger says, was impressed with Grealish. Not sure where he would hit in the first team, unless he dropped back into midfield.
And yeah Pickford will be back in on Sunday.

Re: England vs Wales
What is the point in playing well if you then get dropped for the managers faves?
Re: England vs Wales
Can Grealish and Foden play in the same team as they seem very similar?

None of this can do any harm to MG's discussions with ALK Capital. Just think what a footballing force we'd be with the money to keep hold of players a little longer.

Re: England vs Wales
Got to admit when Grealish first came through I was sceptical. I think the hair, socks and the fact he wasn't doing much in that God awful Villa team made me think he was a bit of a hype job. That being said over the last couple of seasons he's looked some player, I watch nowhere near as much footy as I used to but whenever I see a bit of a game he's playing in he always catches the eye.

Re: England vs Wales
Probably not when England play the better nations no, however if there is a pecking order then Grealish is now well ahead of Foden, this is what misbehaving on England duty can do to your future international prospects, and although it's a harsh lesson it might be a wake up call for young Foden, and he might buck up his ideas in future.

Re: England vs Wales
Hmm, I still would have Foden ahead of Grealish, but Southgate often talks about being able to change formation depending on the opposition - which really is how it should work.tiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 1:27 pmProbably not when England play the better nations no, however if there is a pecking order then Grealish is now well ahead of Foden, this is what misbehaving on England duty can do to your future international prospects, and although it's a harsh lesson it might be a wake up call for young Foden, and he might buck up his ideas in future.
In a 4-3-3 / 4-1-2-3, they could have both Grealish and Foden ahead of somebody like Henderson, with Sterling, Kane and Sancho ahead of them? Very attacking, but I don't rate England defensively, so maybe attack is the best form of defence where England are concerned?
Of course, you have Mason Mount and Greenwood who's also competing for the Euros.

Saka started very nervously, but grew into the game as it went on. He's only a kid and I'm surprised he got a chance, but good luck to him!

Re: England vs Wales
Saka improved as the game went on, and but for a fine save by Wayne Hennessey in the 2nd half, he'd have notched on his debut, the experience won't do him any harm, although I can see him dropping back to the u21's for a while now.
