Another top game for NI in Sarajevo last night including a vital save in the penalty shootout.

"Bailey Peacock-Farrell, the Burnley keeper who made several important interventions in normal time, is also due congratulations from [Pat] Jennings after he made the only save of the shootout from Haris Hajradinovic."

Early signs are good that if/when we do sell Pope for hopefully a very large fee, we have BPF ready to replace him and be just as impressive.

Absolutely frank... our coaching of keepers has been outstanding these last few years.

Less worried about losing Pope than I am our other main assets.

Like everyone else I’ve seen very little of BPF since we signed him but he did really well against Man City and always seems to do well fit Norn Iron.

I wonder at what point BPF will start getting a bit fed up with lack of First Team Football ?

His performances for NI against Germany last Autumn and in Romania last month were outstanding.

I hope he doesn’t end up training at ‘Boro 😳

Agree he's looked top class. Great situation to be in - two top keepers battling it out. He should play all cup games for me.

He played very well last night and that was a decent game to watch and very well refereed too without any fuss and nonsense --even though VAR was present.

Hope they make it through to the tournament. Would be good to see him up against some of the best strikers in Europe

It's very difficult to be certain about anything in football but I am convinced we have an outstanding senior goalkeeper coach. It will also help Bailey training with a lad like Nick Pope.

I thought he was very unconvincing for Leeds, but having seen him play in the cup for us, and in extra time and the pen shootout last night he comes across as very confident. I expect he’ll be ready to take over the reins if/when Pope moves on.

All credit to our coaches, and conditioning staff who, i believe, encouraged him to gain a substantial ammount of weight.

Very encouraging. I’m sure he will be able to step in and do a job and it will be less of a surprise than when Pope had to step in for Heaton. We prepare ahead with keepers. Just need to do the same with other areas of the pitch.

I think during commentary I heard the Spanish referee on duty had already given 22 yellow cards in 3 La Liga games so far this season, so it was good to let a lot of things go and keep the game flowing.

When he referees in Spain he is expected to follow the interpretations of the Spanish FA and a lot of physical contact sees fouls awarded one way or another and players cautioned etc., etc.
I really think that he enjoyed refereeing a game where both teams were going for the win and there was not a lot of play acting going on. It was good old fashioned football and the players seemed to enjoy playing and they had a good repartee with the officials.

Looks very promising. Maybe selling Pope would be the best option for the club if we need funds to strengthen in other areas. Ready made replacement for Pope and would be easier thaan replacing Tarks or McNeil.

If that happens, it should be after next summer's tournament - get Pope as England number 1, have a blinder of a tournament, and it'll add millions to his price tag.

Would make sense, let's just hope we're not in the Championship by then.

And Leeds's fans were saying he was no good when we bought him.
