I'm astonished at some of the low marks for Wood tonight - I know he missed that one chance but otherwise I thought he played well
Its because he has to score as that's his main job - cant afford misses like that

Much better performance last night - should have had 3 points, however we're up and running.

Pope 8-Always in control - very solid
Pieters 7-Did well out of position
Long 7- Did he lose Grant for the off-side goal? Otherwise much better
Tarkowski 7-Had a quiet night really, but looked assured
Taylor 6-Some good defending and blocks - ran into trouble a bit too often going forward
JBG 5-Struggled, but at least had some game time - i might have replaced him earlier
Brownhill 6-A bit quieter than usual. Could use the space in front of him better at times instead of a pass
Westwood 6-Battled well, as usual. I would like him to hold onto the ball more and move forward rather than across or back. Some good very delivery, however.
McNeil 8-Did really well - always looked a threat and some good crosses - a couple over cooked too
Barnes 6-Should have scored with a good header. Getting game time which is good.
Wood 6-Should have buried his header and he knows it. Looked good otherwise. Always caused problems and some good touches

Brady 6-Not enough time to make an impact
JayRod 6-Not enough time to make an impact

SD's reluctance to put on subs is frustrating, but he tends to stick with things when we are in the ascendancy. If we had scored it would be justified, but we didn't, unfortunately. I too think that Vydra would have been a better option against their back four.

Onwards and upwards!

Very much a big part of his job but, other than one header against the bar when he should have scored, he played well last night.

Pope 7
Peters 8 - fantastic effort from Erik, what a great professional.
Long 8 - Looked like he was in charge.
Tarks 7 - reasonable.
Taylor 6 - defended quite well, but just not involved offensively.
JBG 5 - Needs games, needs to get that sharpness back, I'm happy to give him that time.
Westwood 8 - really tried to control the midfield, despite their players throwing themselves about.
Brownhill 7 - worked hard
McNeil 9 - Looked so much more positive, much better.
Wood 6 - (-2 for the misses) Thought he led the line really well, with some fantastic touches, but should have won the game!
Barnes 6 - average

Brady 6 - needs games.
Jay 6 - struggled to get involved in the time he had on the pitch.

All together a much better performance, looked much more organised and defintely should have won it in the 2nd half, which we absolutely bossed. Just a shame we are starting to get a bit of a stronger looking team together as we hit the toughest spell of games.
