Dele Alli
Dele Alli
File under ‘J-Lings’. Another gifted player who believed his own hype, Instagram likes became more important than football and he has wasted a career that he has worked towards throughout his childhood

So what?
Some people play sports to get rich, some people rap, some people **** others over.
I'd say he's got what he wanted.

Re: Dele Alli
Whats he wasted?
He's 24, 160 appearances for Spurs, 37 for the English national team.
He's just having a poor patch and needs to either move or hope Jose can find a way to get the best out of him.
I'm fairly sure he hasn't wasted anything tbh, but you carry on being dramatically over the top about it.

Re: Dele Alli
It's a bit early to say he's wasted his career he's still only 24, however I do feel he needs to leave Spurs to reinvigorate himself, he'll never fit into Jose's philosophy and a new challenge might do him good, he's still got the ability he just needs the right manager to nurture him.
Unfortunately he's out of our budget otherwise he'd be ideal for our midfield creator, I'd certainly rate him above Lingard that's for sure.
It was only 2 years ago he played in a WC semi-final, and little over a year ago he lined up in a CL final, so you'd be daft to write his career off after a poor run of form and injury.

Re: Dele Alli
For all his haters on here Jose is usually right. He took Dombele off against us at HT last season, hammered him in the press but within the lockdown he got fined for giving him personal training in a park. That was a guy he knew had it, now he is starting every major game for Spurs. Alli will never get back to what he was. Like too many English players too much , too young.

Re: Dele Alli
I too think his career is in the balance.
He definitely needs to leave Spurs if he wants to come good again. Just seems to have lost any hunger for the game, taking things easy when he needs to show a bit of fight.
The balls in his court........

Re: Dele Alli
He's a talented lad. Always thought he could have done with another year at the lower level at MK Dons. I.E. A loan back. Takes the edge off an ego, which he clearly has. He's lost his way but no doubt he has talent.

Re: Dele Alli
Have always rated Ali. The way he ghosts into the penalty area and finds space is an art. However, I think he'll end up moving on to resurrect his career, because to put it mildly he doesn't seem the 'flavour of the month' with Mourinho.

Re: Dele Alli
I'm in agreement with a few here- that he probably needs a change of club.
He looked a very good player when he established himself at Spurs at a young age. More than a bit cocky but young and talented so he could largely get away with that.
After a couple of very good seasons he started to wane and lose confidence. Its doubtful that Jose is the type of manager to coax him back into form so he probably needs to go somewhere else, he's only 24 and has time to get back to top form for his peak years.

Re: Dele Alli
Prick list candidate and I find it enjoyable to see him struggling. So full of himself when things were going well.

Re: Dele Alli
Could see him fitting in at Arsenal (cannot understand how Lacazette starts with Aubameyang wide left
Jose clearly doesn't fancy him (would rather play the likes of Winks)
But Poch seemed to
Not to everyone's taste but a very good player on his day

Re: Dele Alli
Looked like he was going to be a great player. Still time to turn it around but needs a fresh start somewhere I think.

Re: Dele Alli
Top player. And mourinho definitely rates him. But you can see from the spurs Netflix series he’s a very lazy trainer and mourinho rightly won’t accept that.
Mourinho did try to sign him before that so it’s not that he doesn’t fancy him as a player.
Needs to leave / wake up. Some players would respond to what mourinho doing in a positive way. See ndombele post above. I don’t think Alli will.
Funnily enough the second to last game I went to ore lockdown was spurs Leipzig and alli threw a proper wobbler that game.
Maybe he just needs a different style of play and manager. He’s far better than lingaard that’s for sure.

World beater he thinks he is. Strongly disagree
Hes nowhere near the world class players in the game today
Re: Dele Alli
Probably needs a change as did a lot of the Spurs team from 3/4 years ago. They reached there peak and will struggle to ever get that close again any time soon. It’s a shame because they were fantastic. They never did replace Dembele when he left.
He’s 24. Achieved far more than 90% of english footballers ever achieve in 15 year careers. Times have changed. Music for some is a way to get rich and famous, same with football.

Re: Dele Alli
I'm still annoyed that Alli played in the WC semi final when he clearly wasn't fit - this was another demonstration of Southgate's weakness or inability to stand up to a player and of how he picks the players over the team.tiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 4:25 pmIt's a bit early to say he's wasted his career he's still only 24, however I do feel he needs to leave Spurs to reinvigorate himself, he'll never fit into Jose's philosophy and a new challenge might do him good, he's still got the ability he just needs the right manager to nurture him.

Still, not as bad as Kane who was more determined to win the Golden Boot thant reach the final when he refused to square a ball to Sterling for a 2-0 lead and took a shot on instead.
Re: Dele Alli
It is a demonstration that very young players, if it goes to their head, stop developing. Early exuberance and novelty fades. If they do not continue the groundwork, they fall behind.
G. Southgate take note. You are wasting players by putting them in too soon.
