So you don't think SD is a good manager then?
I think he is effective to a certain level, a bit like Tony Pulis except even more rigid and basic.

Hope he gets another 90 minutes against Palace. Minutes in the legs will really help.

Touch wood he comes back unscathed from his ROI commitments, and he gets some minutes well he's away, a fit and firing Brady could be a useful tool for us, and in his brief cameo at Leicester he looked lively enough, and he at least tried to make things happen when he got on the ball, which few other of our players have attempted to do this season.

Brady is a left footer and and playing him on the right wing back position makes him ineffective, he disappears in games and then loses confidence. Guardiola is a big fan of playing players in positions that are not on their favourite foot - playing Mahrez, a left footer on the right, playing Sterling, a right footer on the left. Admittedly, both those players skill wise are light years ahead of Brady.

Brady needs to play on the left side in a run of matches to help get his confidence back. Currently, Dwight looks to be jaded and it might an opportune time to give him a rest and use him from bench and start Brady on the left side.

If we didn't have such a small squad we could experiment a bit more and play McNeil Central behind a single striker and Wingers either side too. Anyone who saw us play at Palace last season saw the quality we have playing that way.

We’ve suffered our worst start in the club’s history, struggling to create chances, confidence very low, and you suggest we drop our most creative player? Would Aston Villa drop Grealish if they went on a bad run?

Dwight hasn’t done anything of note for games now so it’s not too bad a shout really, looks like he needs a rest.

Putting Brady back in his normal position might encourage some competition for places again.

We found out the first time around that Brady is shite on the right.

I'd love to see Brady back to the form he was showing pre-injury.
Perhaps a midfield 5 with Dwight inside: Brady, McNeil, Westwood, Brownhill, JBG? I know it's not going to happen, though :D

Undoubted quality. Delighted he’s starting and delighted that he’s been able to show how much of a useful player he still can be.

Give him another 12 month extension! Joking aside I wouldn't mind him getting a run of games now if he can stay fit.

One game at a time. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves as he’s had far more poor performances than good ones. Hopefully it’s a start.

I do feel bad that I was overly severe on the lad after the last game , I think his contribution today was excellent.

Glad he had a good game today. I think the goal shows he's been working a lot on his right foot which I'm sure he knows is integral for him getting game time at the moment. Who knows, if he instead of McNeil had the last chance today he may have buried it with the game he was having.

Can't go and reverse your opinion of him because he has one good game a season.

That's worse than the "told you so" brigade crawling out of their holes.

How's the Hendrick thread going ?

Brady was MOM today and was central whenever we posed a threat.

Let's hope he stays fit and has a good run of form.

On his day he is a match winner.

He put in a very good performance today, topped off with a great strike. I would love to see that from him week in week out. Hopefully this will do his confidence the world of good.

Hopefully that goal will kickstart Robbie's Clarets career, he looked lively in the ROI games, and his strike today showed what he can bring to the table, the problem is he doesn't do it enough, or even worse he's not available to do it enough, if he can get a run of games and regain his confidence he could be a vital asset in our survival battle, if we're going to stay up we'll need goals from our midfielders, we can't just rely on our strikers.

This. It would be brilliant if this was the start of a sustained run in the team for him. Very good game from him today as well as Lowton at right back.

definitely much better today and yes I would like to see him continue and hopefully he can improve, personally thought JRod was the best outfield player today but Robbie playing helped the team I thought, can he stay fit though, not sure about that.

Looks like starting to find his form again

Long may his fitness continue.
Him being available and on the right frees up Brownhill to be in the middle where we need his workrate

Brady is the most two footed player we have and in a one footed team that benefits us, and did again today. Options suddenly appear.

Nice to see him switch wings tonight-something we dont do enough. With more starts and confidence you will soon see that he has a good footballing brain and will become our most creative player

Another great performance from Robbie tonight.

We have such a better balance to our play when we have two fit wingers!

McNeil is reaping the benefits too because it takes the pressure off him to create something.

Great stuff, fingers crossed but long may it continue.

He was more than decent again tonight and I'm absolutely not a fan of his normally. And although his cross to Wood for the sitter was right on the money, I still believe he wastes too many good crossing positions and they never beat the first man. Surely SD can coach him regarding that.

Never doubted personally.
The injuries have really marred his last 3 years, but with a consistent run, injury free, he'll get better and better.

Robbie Brady

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Tue Dec 29, 2020 8:06 pm

Coming into it now. And when he has an impact we tend to get results.

Up until we took the lead especially he had a real effect. Then second half had some clever runs and drew plenty of free kicks in dangerous spots.

Feel he’s one player who strangely benefits from no crowd.

I was just about to start a thread for him.
I've noticed in a few games now his intensity off the ball is unreal. The amount of sprinting he does makes me feel knackered just watching him.

Fantastic to have the Brady of old back :D
