Surely draw best for us Fulham v West Brom ?

Post by s6t9a2f3f » Sun Nov 01, 2020 11:39 pm

We could do with none of these teams getting a confidence booster of 3 points they HAVE to be 2 of the 3 teams we need below us come end of season to stand any chance.

The best result is neither gain any points, but of course that's not possible, so in the circumstances a share of the spoils is the best we can hope for.

The reality is no matter what the teams around us do, we need to put points on the board, if we take care of business we'll be fine, whatever the rest do.

It does appear that it'll be a mini-league of 5 made up of Brighton, West Brom, Sheff Utd, Fulham and us, so the head-to-heads between those 5 could prove the difference come May, it'll definitely play a major part in each clubs prospects.

Matters not to me what Fulham or West Brom do but agree with tiger.
It's what we do in our games.

At present we're hoping Mee can get back soon and help re-establish
the fight/spirit in the team.
But we need others to stand up too and it could take a good few games.

I’d be very surprised if Brighton remain in the mix. Their performances have been overall better than the points collected suggest.

Got to be a draw.

It's all ifs and buts, however if WBA win tonight and Brighton beat us Friday, we will be a minimum of 6 points off 17th after just 7 games, eand ven this early it starts to look a big ask.
It will surely have a mental effect on the players going into games, knowing even a win doesnt move you up the table or out of danger and that's regardless of what the teams above you do.

That's what happened to Norwich, cut adrift too early.

To say Fridays game will make or break our season is an understatement.

That's been said about many teams who've been relegated. Playing well, but never quite managing to get results.

Bournemouth spring to mind. Played well in games last season but seemed to be on the wrong end of too many results.

Surely indicative of the plight we find ourselves in that we are already asking such a question. Usually occurs with half a dozen games left in a season not half a dozen games in. We have to win games which requires us scoring and that looks another cause for concern currently.

So that means they both won't finish below us.

Can you say we're going to get relegated.

I admire your optimistic outlook, but if we aren't getting relegated who is? I can see Fulham & West Brom finishing below us, but right now I'm struggling to find the 3rd relegation candidate, Brighton possibly they play nice football, but like us they're struggling for points, 5 without a win now for them, if we can go to the Amex and win, it'll pile the pressure firmly on Graham Potter and his team, big if though the way our season is going.

No but most people myself included expect them to hit form at some stage, their problem is the same as ours, they've only netted 3 league goals in 7 games, if and when they rectify that they'll be fine, 5 of their 7 games have been lost by the odd goal, so it's not like they're getting turned over heavily every week.

Of course we can, that's why it's vital we remain in the pack alongside the other 4 stragglers, and it's possible someone like say West Ham will still be drawn into the mix, it's worth remembering they started strongly last season, and then the wheels fell off.

We have 2 upcoming games where we might pick up 6 points, if we can do that the table will look a lot different. But we do need to start amassing points, we can't keep relying on other teams failing to win, because sooner or later they will hit their straps.

The table is crazily congested and a win or two for anybody could shoot them up several places, Villa have looked poor in their last 2 games, and they're starting to leak goals again, so it's hard to see them staying that lofty, the advantage for them is they have points on the board early doors, so if and when they do hit the skids, they'll still have a cushion to play with, I'll be surprised if they slip as low as the bottom 5 however, that would require a serious collapse on their part, and a serious upturn on behalf of the struggling sides, one or two might go on runs, but it's unlikely that they all will, hopefully we're in the one or two that do pick up some form.

We're the worst team in the division, so a bit unfair to have a go at them.

West Brom wing keep a clean sheet all season they are an awful outfit. Average about 3 against per game.

No tram survives conceding that many, you need to learn how to win 1-0 and nick the odd win and draw from being able to defend.

Yet they somehow got a draw against Chelsea, and could even have won that game.

You have to say if we can't finish above West Brom it'll be a poor do. Big win for Parker he might have bought himself some time with that victory.

West Brom's next 2 games are Spurs at Home Man Utd away, if we can pick up a couple of results from the Brighton & Palace games, we might well find ourselves out of the bottom 3 in a few weeks time.

1-0 Leicester early doors Harvey Barnes again after some chaotic Leeds defending.

A few comments from the beeb page made my chuckle.

Paul: The honeymoon period for Leeds in the Premier league is over. They started the season well but they're awful tonight.

Richard: Sorry to say it but Leeds are looking like a Championship side.

Thiago: Leeds are in shambles. Their defence is terrible.

Mick M: Leeds defence looking decidedly dodgy.

Hopefully the start of the Leeds decline, Leicester have been impressive though.

Still annoys me that we didn’t relegate Leicester and Hawkeye kept Villa up.

I should stop being so bitter and thinking bad thoughts really, but I can’t help it when we’re bottom of the league!
