Not surprising given the way he has been playing this season plus his sore toe problem!

I'd question Southgate EVEN more if he did call him up

Re: No Tarks in England squad
Surely no one thought he would be in - I doubt he'll get into another England squad in the future. If he couldn't get back in last season he's little chance going forward.

He will be back I’m sure. He’s good enough. Just his form isn’t. Unsurprising given he’s playing on his weaker side which to me is baffling.

He would automatically with a move to a higher echelon club, barring that it’s a fit free amazing turnaround in form for GS to even consider perhaps with a couple of other starters dipping to ensure, it’s unlikely where we are now.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 4:10 pmSurely no one thought he would be in - I doubt he'll get into another England squad in the future. Re: No Tarks in England squad
Leicester the only club currently in the top 10 without a player named in the England squad.
I bet Tarks is glad he never signed for them.

Hardly surprising considering their only decent English players are both playing in positions where we have lots of talent*.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 4:24 pmLeicester the only club currently in the top 10 without a player named in the England squad.

Re: No Tarks in England squad
Whether Tarks is currently playing well or not he is better at CB than Dier, Gomez and, on current form, Maguire.
England will waste another generation with Southgate in charge. He’s the FAs man for sure.
Just come across this. Time for Nick to start picking up minor strains during international week.

Re: No Tarks in England squad
I'm not sure there is a generation here to waste but I've not been impressed with Southgate from day one but saw his reputation grow because of a good World Cup draw.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 5:02 pm

Love how Gomez is pinned as a no hoper on here despite being a regular for one of the best club sides in the world. Obviously not as good as "our Tarky" though.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 5:02 pmWhether Tarks is currently playing well or not he is better at CB than Dier, Gomez and, on current form, Maguire.

Re: No Tarks in England squad
Who is the national side's goalkeeping coach?
I can't say he's done much for Pickford or Nick Pope!

Re: No Tarks in England squad
I had to laugh when Southgate came out defending Pickford saying there's no one else rivalling for his spot. That in my opinion is just an insult to Pope and Henderson.
No doubt he likes him because he's quicker on his feet and plays the system better, but to give Pickford a shout of confidence at the cost of other players is pretty poor imo.

Re: No Tarks in England squad
I’ve commented before how often his pace covers his poor positioning. Might be OK at FB but he is no CB. He also picks up far too many bookings, for my liking, in a defence that is rarely under pressure and he makes poor decisions carrying the ball forward. I just don’t get the love-in over him and this is not personal.

Re: No Tarks in England squad
Gareth Southgate is the " Ron Greenwood " of his generation .... and that's probably doing a disservice to a proud son of Worsthorne !!
I presume Harry Maguire's in the squad based on his " current form ", is he Gareth ??

Yup. He'll have a greater chance of the plane crashing than starting a competitive game. We shouldn't take that risk!huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 5:02 pmTime for Nick to start picking up minor strains during international week.

Along with Rice. The two Arsenal lads I know nothing about either...are they any good?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 4:53 pmPickford Abraham Maguire and Dier all not fit to wear the shirt
Dier is an absolute waste of space
Re: No Tarks in England squad
He’s been bang average this season so far but is still head and shoulders above some of the dross in the England squad.
Re: No Tarks in England squad
Southgates comments about Pope and Henderson are disgusting. I'd pack me bags and head home.
Re: No Tarks in England squad
He said the same thing when he played Tripper at left back, about there being no other alternatives because Chilwell and Rose were injured.
The guy is an absolute pillock and should be nowhere near the Andorran national team, let alone England’s.
Re: No Tarks in England squad
It seems like the best teams want their centre backs to be quick and mobile these days, so they can press and leave lots of space in behind. Even watching Leicester the other night I wondered whether Tarks would be mobile enough to play in their system.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 5:18 pmI’ve commented before how often his pace covers his poor positioning. Re: No Tarks in England squad
Sadly we need to start moving up the table and winning if Tarks is going to get a look in. Same applies to a lesser extent to Pope too. He could find himself slipping down the order whilst we are shipping in goals
Re: No Tarks in England squad
Can anyone really suggest Pope is so much better than Pickford
Mistakes are there (Newcastle, poss even Chelsea first goal) and, just as important for Southgate (and many other managers), Nick's distribution/control with his feet leaves a lot to be desired
Given the "lack of playing time" for Greenwood's non inclusion in the squad it would follow that Henderson will not be starting in front of Pickford or Pope
I don't recall Pickford having made any major mistakes on England duty so I don't see him losing the starting jersey

Totally agree. I personally think Pope has had a poor start to the season..jojomk1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 10:33 pmCan anyone really suggest Pope is so much better than Pickford

Re: No Tarks in England squad
I'm not that fussed about Tarks being picked for England, the break will do him good, and he needs to focus on helping BFC climb the table first and foremost before pressing for an England call up.
Pope will be on the bench I guess I can't see why Gareth would drop Pickford, as yet he hasn't dropped a b**lock in an England shirt, so Gareth will keep faith with him, despite his struggles at Everton.
