Pope 7
Lowton 6
Tarkowski 7
Mee 7
Taylor 8*
Brady 4
Brownhill 6
Westwood 6
McNeil 3
Barnes 3
Wood 3

Jay 4

It’s a good job we can defend.
Other than the Mee slip I thought we started the game pretty well and looked quite sharp. We faded quickly though and were dominated after about 20 minutes and hardly threatened their goal after that.
Hopefully our confidence will come back soon and we can be braver on the ball. We need Dwight to regain his confidence quickly though as he is the one player for me who can change the game. The last time we played Palace he played in the middle and ran the game - fingers crossed it inspires him next Saturday.
Thought Wood and Barnes were as poor as I have seen them in a long time tonight.

Taylor 6 Defensively sound, whats happened to his overlapping runs
...
McNeil 3 More reverse gears than an Italian tank.
You answered your question there. 9 times out of 10 Dwight's on walkabout and Taylor facing 3 players in front of him

You mean the two times when he slipped?
Yeah I may have calmed down a little now. Still don't think that he deserved a 9 and it annoys me when a player slips twice in separate halves as he should be changing his studs if they aren't suitable but he was solid in the main.

Some of the scores for McNeil and Brady are very harsh, part of the reason we at least came away with a point and a clean sheet, is because of the shift they put in defensively

I sometimes read back these scores and think ‘I need to watch that game back as I must have watched a different game’, tonight I’ll just agree though as I can’t watch that again

Pope 8 Just wish his kicking could be better
Lowton 7 unlucky with his crossbar shot
Tarkowski 8 solid Tarka the Stopper performance
Mee 8 MotM recovered after the early scare with that slip
Taylor 8 another class Taylor performance
Brady 6 Curates Egg ... good in parts
Westwood 5 ditto
Brownhill 6 not his usual solid game
McNeil 4 looks a bit jaded but was battered by Brightons mini marvel.
Barnes 4 tried hard but no service
Wood 4 tried hard but no service

JayRod 5 not enough time to get up to speed

We got a clean sheet!..........It's something to build on.
I just hope none of the players read this forum.
Brighton aren't a bad side, and this could be a great point come the end of the season.

McNeil was the worst player on the field tonight
You got to be blind not to see that

And worryingly Dyche didn't seem to have any answers or suggestions

This.

People can go on bleating about Garlick and lack of investment as long as you want. But we have a manager who seemingly can’t understand a game while it’s being played while other managers are coaching the living hell out of him. This is about the 90th game in a row we’ve played 442 and brought a sub on reluctantly and way, way to late. I bet other teams don’t even train during the week when they have us on a Saturday.

And this damn stubbornness not to use any, literally any player that’s not one of his favorites or is in the back up squad when this entire board is marking people in 3s and 4s.

Question. Can anyone recall us changing formation mid game to react to the opposition. Ever.

Another sorry performance. The 'prudence' of the last few transfer windows is now coming home to roost. It's like watching walking football, but the opposition are allowed to run. We cannot keep hold of the ball, our options in midfield are either sideways or back to the defenders. The defenders option is either a long hopeful ball down the channels or try to hit one of our forwards and pick up second ball. 1 goal in 6 games, 1 weak header on target in 2 games tells the story. The problem I see is that we have no way out of this. We could swap Brady for JBG. One ineffective wide player for another. Jay/Vydra for Barnes/Wood? Pointless when we don't have the players to create something for them.

If you stand still at this level then you go backwards. We haven't even stood still, we have gone backwards before everyone else takes that step forwards. I haven't really felt our position has been threatened in each of the past 4 seasons. I certainly can't say that this season.
Absolutely spot on! (But I'd only give Brady 4)

Pope 6 - 8 hands 4 feet
Lowton 4 no positional sense
Tarkowski 6 smirking away not committed mind elsewhere
Mee 8 9 if he wasn’t wearing slippers MOM
Taylor 8
McNeil 5 If he can’t break the shackles of Dyche then it’s JBG and Brady for me Dwight doesn’t do the defensive side well if no offensive -no point being there
Browhill 8 game plan affecting midfield but tenacious foot in at the back turns up in the box
Westwood 5 as above Dyche
Brady 6 he has qualities he needs games does the defensive bit
Wood 5
Barnes 5 wasting rare goalscoring opportunities by pantomime villain theatrics
Subs
Vydra 8 for 1 run that was like a speck of gold in a murky river, if it wasn’t his first run he’d have got a shot in and then a back heel that nearly found Brownhill I think would have been sublime but hit defenders leg fortuitously for him
Rodriguez 6 tried to receive and link never got going

Lampty 9 would get nowhere near our team Dyche would have seen him as lightweight

Jay Rod 5

I guess we'll have to wait until Christmas before the manager opts to change the two up front.

Pope 7* - Minus one for kicking. Still MOTM for his tremendous work outside of that. Top keeper
Lowton 6 - Distribution normally his biggest strength, again was wayward, hope he's slowly getting there
Tarkowski 7 - Made a great block and happier with Mee
Mee 7 - Two slips that weren't his fault, did well
Taylor 7 - Defended so well, made some great blocks, stuck with a tough customer
Brady 6 - Grew into the game, deserves another go, let's not forget he was the crème of our squad in 2017 and game time + support could be exactly what he needs
Brownhill 6 - I love his energy, but didn't produce the goods on the ball
Westwood 6 - Not at his best, didn't take up a chance to cross and not taking enough risks with his passing. It's hard for him, we cannot afford to lose the ball in key areas but its a balancing act of risk v reward. Don't envy him
McNeil 6 - Let's get behind him, two superb corners, one great cross in the second, he's low on confidence and needs a rest... but let's support him!
Wood 5 - If he's not scoring I think let Jay/Vydra have a go. At the very least to stretch teams, we saw that immediately with Vydra coming on
Barnes 5 - Again he's a target man, lets have an outlet to stretch teams. Wood/Vydra or Wood/ Jay or Barnes/Vydra. Get one player making it stick and the other over the shoulder. If we aren't making teams worry about a ball in behind, we are never going to get into good crossing positions
Jay & Vydra - Too late to effect things and not fair to think they will in 30 mins/ 10 mins.
