2nd season blues for the blades they will be battling relegation along with Leeds
Re: Todays Footy 07/11/2020
Looks like Bayern are going to beat Dortmund 3-2, great game though. Bayern have so much pace about them, even their centre backs can shift.

Yep. Think that was his choice though, so can’t be too remorseful about it. Ziyech, Adam’s, Ward-Prowse, Robertson... lots of “if only’s” in recent years.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 7:11 pmIt's a pity we didn't follow up our alleged interest in him a few years ago.

Oh well at least the Blades being blunted means we're off the bottom for a couple of weeks. let's hope the Hammers do the business in the late game, I can't see us finishing above them, but I can see us finishing above Fulham, so a home win is probably best for us to keep the bottom 5 fairly compact.
And is that the sound of a Leeds bubble bursting I can hear, I do believe it might well be. That scoreline cheered me up anyway, and all being well Palace have used up their goal allocation for a while, they don't usually score many, so this should be a one-off result.
Norwich won but no Gibson in their squad, is he injured?
Bolton's woes continue crashing out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle, and Stanley also went out.
Victories for Canvey Island, Boreham Wood, Brackley Town, Marine, Kings Lynn Town & Stockport County from the non-league clubs remaining, a big carrot awaits them with the promise of a glamour tie in round 3 if they progress.

At last some positivity!
Onwards and upwards. I know Fulham are playing now but up to now their form and that of West Brom, Sheffield United and Brighton should give every Claret fan confidence that once we get our best team on the field and playing the Dyche way we have nothing to fear in our quest for another season with the big boys.

Yeah Gibson was injured today. Since Godfrey went to Everton he's played every game at the back alongside Hanley.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 8:09 pmOh well at least the Blades being blunted means we're off the bottom for a couple of weeks. let's hope the Hammers do the business in the late game, I can't see us finishing above them, but I can see us finishing above Fulham, so a home win is probably best for us to keep the bottom 5 fairly compact.

West Ham are toothless without Antonio, they'd better hope he doesn't pick up a long-term injury, because if he does they could easily get drawn into a relegation battle, this is just as bad as our game at Brighton, 0-0 and very much 0-0 at that, surely we can pick up points against teams like these two, they really aren't that special.

Not watching but Lookman misses a 97th min pen. Panenka'd into Fabianski's hands.

Re: Todays Footy 07/11/2020
IT goal for West Ham, and then Fulham miss a pen at the death, if we can't finish above Fulham we have major problems.
Re: Todays Footy 07/11/2020
Oh dear
Interestingly a saw a stat 3/4 years ago about penalty placement/keeper diving etc. Basically the goal was split into 3 sections. The sides had about 30% each and the middle 40%. The thing was, keepers always dive or near enough always.

Problem is he chipped it towards the side of the goal that Fabianksi had made a move to. Hilarious attempt.

Re: Todays Footy 07/11/2020
If your going to attempt a Panenka with the last kick of the game, you'd better be sure you score it, otherwise you look incredibly foolish.
These penalty misses could prove costly for Fulham in the long run, Mitrovic fluffed one at Sheff Utd, and it cost them 2 points there, and that pathetic effort today has cost them a point, those 3 points would have meant they'd be above Brighton, and 4 points clear of the drop zone, yes it's early days, but no team can afford to throw away points at any stage of the season, let alone a team fighting for their lives.

The thing is, you can never be certain of scoring any penalty. But there is a time and a place for a kick like that, and it isn’t in the 97th minute, when you’re near the bottom of the league and desperate for points.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 1:23 amIf your going to attempt a Panenka with the last kick of the game, you'd better be sure you score it, otherwise you look incredibly foolish.

Re: Todays Footy 07/11/2020
The one thing you must do with any penalty is hit the target, now you could argue he did that, but that would be clutching at straws, too clever by half, and his team paid the price, that's why Scott Parker is fuming, they could have pinched a point, and that would have been 4 points in 2 games for them and some momentum going into the international break, as it is they've lost to a 91st minute goal, and they'll be devastated, this is where a manager earns his corn, because he'll have to pick them up off the floor, and prepare them for the next game, and he'll need to handle Lookman carefully he doesn't want to throw the kid under a bus, but equally he can't defend his stupidity at a critical time of the match.

I don't know much about the Fulham squad but surely there was a more senior, and suitable penalty taker on the pitch?tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 1:44 amThe one thing you must do with any penalty is hit the target, now you could argue he did that, but that would be clutching at straws, too clever by half, and his team paid the price, that's why Scott Parker is fuming, they could have pinched a point, and that would have been 4 points in 2 games for them and some momentum going into the international break, as it is they've lost to a 91st minute goal, and they'll be devastated, this is where a manager earns his corn, because he'll have to pick them up off the floor, and prepare them for the next game, and he'll need to handle Lookman carefully he doesn't want to throw the kid under a bus, but equally he can't defend his stupidity at a critical time of the match.

Re: Todays Footy 07/11/2020
Just had a quick glance and the following spring to mind, Mitrovic (although he missed his last penalty) Loftus-Cheek who'd come on as a sun about 15 minutes before (experienced pro, and an England international to boot, and he's got a sweet strike on him) that's just 2 that you'd have thought would have stepped up and taken responsibility instead of putting it all on the young kid's shoulders, it does make me wonder how many strong characters Fulham possess, because most other PL captains would have intervened and demanded one of their older heads step forward, admittedly no-one could have known how poor the actual pen was going to be, it'll certainly be a major test of character for Lookman, and he's been one of Fulham's bright sparks in the opening weeks, so they'll want to get his confidence up again, because he's shown on his day he can be a matchwinner, and that's invaluable to a struggling team.
