Which I don't know what it was, but if it's something that the club decided it was better for BFC to pay him tens of thousands per week to clear off rather than pay him tens of thousands per week to be a sub to be called on as required, then it can't have been trivial.

I agree, whatever it was it's noticeable that litigation wasn't optional for breach of contract, the club even give him permission to travel up to rockliffe to smooth over whatever the problem was.

It's next to impossible for a company to get compensation for breach of contract by its employee, and it's almost certain in any case that if we tried we wouldn't be able to get a transfer fee for him.

The best scenario for me would be he has a blinding season as Norwich finish 3rd, stay down and rather than the 8m agreed fee with them, another club take him off our hands for 12m

That's possible also, I guess in such a scenario the newly promoted clubs might be interested, Watford were rumoured to be sniffing around Gibson if they'd stayed up, so if they make a PL return we might be able to tempt them to come back in for Gibbo, I'd bite your hands off if anyone offered £12m.

It would certainly not have been right for him to get in the side after our poor start because he was suffering with two hernia ops. Afterwards, in the second half of the season, it's unrealistic to say that either Mee or Tarkowski should have been dropped simply because Gibson's career was suffering.

But how much was he suffering prior to Christmas in our bad run, he was on bench v Newcastle in November then out of squad. When he did make squad he was on bench and Long started including the 3 man back three experiment v Spurs. No disrespect to Long but if you are on the bench you are fit enough and he should have been in before Long.

If Gibson had been the complete professional he would have kept training sensibly knowing that sometime Mee or Tarks would get injured. He would have got his chance in April and probably been ever present since then. Tarks may well have been sold. Only himself to blame that he is not a regular starter in the PL.

There was a panic by a lot of posters on here to get a new CH in which the club did. Now there are lots of posts questioning why the club did it.

Not necessarily. It's possible to put a player on the bench who isn't 90-minute fit or who you would prefer to give another week or two, but who would be available in emergencies.
