Reason for optimism

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Mon Nov 23, 2020 3:41 pm

Regardless of results and off field noise. Still quietly confident tonight.

We usually have a mix bag Against palace but probably due a home win vs them tonight.

Despite all the negativity, the players still have pride and I think they will put a shift in tonight. None of them will want a relegation on their cv. Especially in these uncertain times.

I also have a feeling palace won’t fancy it.

Going to go 2-0 clarets.

The optimist in me says we'll have 1 shot and it will be off target.

Let's just create chances and be solid at the back. See what happens.

That's our strongest XI (you could argue Bardsley for Lowton but hey...) and Zaha is out....we couldn't ask for more than that...I'm praying we come out fired up and we see a real BFC performance

Zaha being out has to be a boost, and we're almost at full strength, also after the weekend's results the lads know a win will lift us out of the bottom 3 so they should be up for it.

Something to defend now. And those two great partnership back together. Up top and at the back.

Another clean sheet following the one at Brighton. Onwards and upwards

Jay and Wood up top give them plenty of problems 1st half, 2nd half was always going to be tougher, but we ground out a result due to Mee, Pope & Tarks being on top form again.

We're out of the bottom 3, and if we can continue to grind out the 1-0's, we'll have a great chance of staying out.

Also our mainstays are returning to the fold, and it's showing in the results and performances, last 5 games = 1 win, 2draws, 2 defeats, but the 2 defeats were to Spurs & Chelsea, and in the other 3 games West Brom, Brighton & Palace we've kept 3 clean sheets, those are the type of games we'll need to collect the majority of the points in.

Thank God for that. Fantastic defensive display which kept them at bay almost throughout. There was only really McNeil’s back pass and Kouyate’s effort superbly saved by Pope.
We’re starting to look difficult to beat again which means we’re always in with a shout.

The thing is. When we go one up you are always confident we can defend it and fight.

It’s going one down that’s the problem.
