Footballers aging badly

Post by Longsidebovril » Mon Nov 23, 2020 8:51 pm

If you’re on Twitter... there’s a great page with picture of players from bygone days looking old before their time
It’s 80s footballers aging badly
It’s currently running a World Cup ...Ralph Coates through to the last 8!
He won’t win... there’s some lads on there in their 20s who look 50.

It's the combovers and the moustaches. If you've get nothing on the top then take it all off on the back and sides. Smoking 20 a day from the age of fourteen probably didn't help a few of them, mind.

Cheers. It’s a great laugh. Some of them look 20 or 30 years older than their actual age.

Calling Ralph an 80's footballer is a bit harsh really

He does say he opened the World Cup to all ages .... started out as an 80s site then expanded from there.

It’s judged on their age at the time of the photo

Ralph beating David Armstrong, who was bald at 22. His was the first name that came to mind when I saw the thread.

You could probably pick a picture of Coates in his mid to late 20s looking just as old!

Paul Weller would challenge for the opposite competition, the Dorian Gray prize for footballers not ageing at all. I reckon he got away without a yellow card for a dirty tackle more than a few times simply because he looked lightweight and about 14. For a small winger, he could put himself about.

Is Peter Noble in the contest?

Ron Futcher has got to be in with a shout?

How old was he when he played for us? 35? He looked about 50!
