Another game I knew/know little about. End of the first term was approaching but I was still going to be in London for another couple of weeks. I didn't realise Dave Mackay had any connection with Forest, thought he was a Derby man through and through in that part of the country. I heard quite a number of comments about the players 'show' and all of them were complimentary. A feel good factor which is always good to have.

I didn't see the performance at the Cats I have to say but I've witnessed a certain Paul Fletcher playing his ukulele on several occasions since. From memory, it wasn't a good game at all but that's the sort of result from that sort of game that gets you up at the top.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 11:30 amAnother game I knew/know little about. Mackay was there for almost a year and left to become Derby manager the following year when Clough resigned.

Some decent players in that Forest line up too - Tommy Gemmell, Martin O'Neill, John Robertson and Duncan McKenzie for starters.

Only 16 months later that they played in the very controversial FA Cup 6 th round game against Newcastle. McKenzie was a starter that day for Forest and it was his penalty that put Forest 1-3 up in the original tie at At James Park that led to the pitch invasion and the calamity that followed it.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:44 pmSome decent players in that Forest line up too - Tommy Gemmell, Martin O'Neill, John Robertson and Duncan McKenzie for starters.

They certainly chopped us down in the return. Horrible day out. Intimidating place.
