was there even a hint of embarrassment at the notion of being evenly matched with MK Dons?Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 7:24 pmTwo evenly matched teams, should be a good game and if we get a bit of luck I reckon we could get through to the 4th round

I’m actually selfishly hoping for a replay, as I might be allowed to watch that down here...

If we bother that should be winnable, I'm sure some wag at the BBC will mention the Wimbledon game from 1975, just to rub it in again.
Fantastic ties for Marine & Morecambe, their chairmen will be happy.

Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
Last time we played them in the FA Cup the manager had to rush off to go and see his mum in Scotland.

Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
Burnley being drawn against a lower league franchise football model of a club in game which won't be broadcast, with a low/zero crowd, in a tournament we don't care about, and against a team we've played recently enough for it not to be a novelty, is, if nothing else, an exceptionally on-brand-for-2020 simulacrum of what it feels like to follow Burnley and football in general right now. You couldn't have picked a better team to draw against to represent how crap everything is.

We might be in Tier-2 by January. Which means that 2,000 fans will be allowed in - so pretty much everyone who wants a ticket will get one.

Unbelievable draw for Marine. I'm assuming it will be televised. Can't wait to see Mourinho, Bale et al at that ground.
They're currently 6 places below Colne in their league...

Aye, great draw for Marine, what football's all about. Hopefully the hardcore fans who watch them every week get to see the game.CardiffClaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 7:38 pmUnbelievable draw for Marine. I'm assuming it will be televised. Can't wait to see Mourinho, Bale et al at that ground.

Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
I read "Tier 2" and thought it's bad if we can get relegated mid-season.
Just been listening to Marine being in the 8th tier. I'd forgotten, for a nano-second, that there are other occasions when the term "tier" is used.

Gives the young clarets a chance to impress other league clubs and Sean
Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
Of course, MK Dons are the remnants of the old Wimbledon FC.
Back in 1975, we had never heard of a football team called Wimbledon until we got drawn at home against them in the 3rd round. The great Bill Shankly predicted a win for Burnley by 4-1.
One of the biggest ever FA Cup shocks when they beat us 1-0. We were high up in the first division and had reached the FA Cup semis the previous year.

Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
The FA Cup used to be the highlight of the calendar, sadly for many clubs including Burnley it's now seen as a distraction alas.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 7:31 pmTypical negativity, I think it will be anything but a boring game. I guess they're saving City for the 4th round this year again.

Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
I agree but there are also too many "fans" like Leisure who think its more important to come 4th in the Premier League than it is to win a trophy

Chuffed for Marine. It's sure to be televised and it will be like winning the lottery for a club at their level.

Great draw for Marine. It wasn't so long ago that they were playing Barnoldswick Town in the FA Cup. It just goes to show that there is still some romance left in the FA Cup.

Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
Games that weren't selected for live TV coverage in rounds 1 & 2 were all streamed online on the BBC Sport site, don't suppose any chance of that happening with round 3? Not sure if the TV rights the Premier League Clubs signed away during TV deals will make this not possible.
Re: FA Cup Draw Thread
Hopefully we won’t get out footballed by them and put in another emabarrasing cup performance. Anything other than our first eleven usually struggles.
