They are just too good for us. To the extent I find it hard to get annoyed or upset (poor defending caused by a lack of concentration aside)

It's the same every time vs them. Counting down the minutes.

Too easy for them.
No blame as they are different class but we needed to have our best day and them to have their worst for us even be close.

Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
Or is it we just play the same formation, same tactics everytime at the Etihad.. I'm sure that's something like a 31-1 aggregate against us over the last few matches there, that is completely embarrassing I'm afraid..

Make changes at half time. Give other players a chance.

This is why Dyche will never get a top job.

I'll bet Brighton aren't 3-0 down before half time.

Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
City don’t win every home game 5+ nil. Not even against the teams in the relegation mix. They manage it against us time and again tho.
We can put today down to the injuries again, but I do wonder if the players are mentally beaten before the KO.

Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
Have to laugh. It’s so, so incredibly easy. And when we finally turn the ball over there’s nothing on because there is no genuine pace in the side.
Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
Rats ... Too easy
Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
We will be exposed time and again against City whilst we remain the least mobile and least technical team in the league it's the way it is.

4-5-1, people would complaining about being too negative
4-4-2, complaints as too positive
4-3-3, complains as too positive.
Whatever the formation, same complaints.

Why make more players suffer! Im sure they are all happier sitting on the bench than having the City players run rings around themFactualFrank wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:43 pmMake changes at half time. Give other players a chance.

So we're playing city and we've had to bring a young lad into midfield due to injury . Wouldn't you go 4-5-1 and pack the midfield to try and nullify them ?

Because we naively believe if we keep our shape and men behind the ball we will hold them We don't engage the man on the ball even if he is probably the best passer of a ball in the world. Its criminally poor tactics.burnleymik wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:43 pmWhy oh why do we give players like De Bruyne time on the ball? Madness.

The number of times their CB as the ball, we don’t pressure him and our MF stand 10yds deeper than their MF giving him 3 options. It’s just dreadful.

Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
Yep. The reason Wolves and Palace have picked up results at the Etihad is because they actually have one or two players who were signed for their pace and ability. Not just “good lads”.

Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
Is there any actual point in us playing City?
Rather than always being made to look like a (not so) plucky 4th division side in a 1970's 3rd round cup match against one of the big boys, SD could just meet PG pre-season and hand him a brown envelope with the 6 points in it.

Generally, I'd go 4-5-1 away to a team like City, yes.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:46 pmSo we're playing city and we've had to bring a young lad into midfield due to injury . Wouldn't you go 4-5-1 and pack the midfield to try and nullify them ?

Re: Match Day Thread - Man City v Burnley
Sadly there’s nothing Dyche can do with the squad we have to put a team out here that can sit back and pray for a 0-0, and certainly not one to attack effectively. So game after game against them we put out one which is in between both.
It does feel like a mental thing though with the Etihad. We go to clubs like Liverpool that are better than this lot (objectively so) and make a game of it year after year. It’s very odd.

It's one of those days when it's going to look churlish to criticize the officials but Mason clearly doesn't want to give us anything.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:47 pmExcellent reffing there... Can anyone explain how that wasn't a FK to wood?

Solid first half, just need a bit more quality in the final third and we could still get something out of this game

Tell you what I’d do against City. Play 5 at the back, 4 in midfield, 1 up front. Joke playing 3 strikers.

Staggering we’re having to compete at this level with players like Lowton . The squad needs gutting .
