I've played on the Longside in the old fourth division days and the football we played on the longside was way better than anything that was going on on the pitch

Played a penalty shoot out final for the hospital cup In front of the longside when I were 10. I hit the bar but the team still won thankfully.

Two times. First time for Lancashire u16s against Northumbria back in 2011 and then against Burnley u18s in 2012. Fantastic experience.

There must be dozens on here who have played on the Turf. My husbands two brothers played in Keighley Cup Finals, so guessing plenty of decent schoolboy footballers who post on this site?

Quite a lot I imagine. Jay Rod, Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood... I could be here a while.

Played quite a lot during half times when I was younger. Remember doing an American shoot out from the half way line and had to score before the other player did in the opposite goal. That’s along way when you’re only about 10 . Got brought down and given a proper penalty. Scored and the few fans behind the goal gave me cheer. Good days.

Three times that I can remember as a kid. Including one in the kids hospital cup penalty shootout at half time towards the long side. May even be same as mentioned above. Think it was during a port vale game.

Another was an actual match width ways at half time of a game v Liverpool. Think it was the opening of or very soon after opening of the Hargreaves stand.

Quite a few others also. Ewood park and the Emirates as an adult. The first a match between fans and ex players we beat rovers. Was a quality game and night. The second an industry competition run by Bt with Martin keown on our touch line. We won the tournament.

Frustratingly I wasn’t in the team for the keighley cup final, I went Ted’s and we had a good side, was I good enough? Not so sure but I played every other year apart from yr 10.

Scored a penalty at Bloomfield road though at half time on a minging cold Tuesday night , ran to the Burnley fans with my natural born claret T-shirt on. Think Branch scored either an equaliser or winner

I think their brilliant. Much prefer them to the normal penalties. Odds more in favour of the goalkeeper too. Always found it difficult to score as there’s too much time to firmly decide what you’re going to do.

5 or 6 times now.
First time Keighley Cup Final for St Teds - we won
Second time for St Teds old Boys in Hospital cup final - lost.
Both were great - with a few hundred fans and everything taken very seriously

Other times since have been on corporate events - a lot older, a lot slower and pitch felt a hell of a lot bigger !

I have once. Saved a second half penalty in front of the CF stand.

Does playing a musical instrument count?

There was a spell in the early 2000’s where the club at the end of the season had a weekend where teams could hire to play on the turf. Music coming out of the tunnel plus a video of the ‘action’ to purchase afterwards!

Yep, the DVD of me scoring at the Cricket Field end is definitely due a dusting off!

Twice. Loved it.

Threads like this allow me to dig out DavePTClarets terrific slapping of the floor following my saving of his bullet header :-)

Fantastic save. Did that game finish 3-2 to the reds? If so, that's the one I scored in. Couldn't miss after dandeclaret laid it on a plate. Thought it was the winner until they got a quick double at the end.

I have, and scored a beaut of a header tho the tosspot liner gave me offside. I wasn't, timed it to perfection. Oh well, great day out. The pitch feels enormous when you are on it!

It does, but I think many have misunderstood what you were asking, which I think is how many of the 119 footballers in the song have played on Turf Moor.

What a save!
Great clip, and the player slapping the ground afterwards was great to see.

Always go for a drink or a glove wipe, after a save like that to tell yourself how good the save was, and brush of the incoming praise as if it was routine, but really you're buzzing inside.
