He was their 13th manager in the time that Sean has been at the Turf.
Martin O'Neill was their manager in 2012 when Sean came to Burnley and they were in the PL.

Another one gone whilst in a decent position. Overall his record hasn’t been even average.

How soon will the "Dyche to Sunderland" posters be on here .... telling us about their m8 with a box at the SoL telling them it was a "done deal"

Re: Manager Sacked !!
It's easy to see why Sunderland nose dived, but I can't understand how they are struggling to put it right.
They are still a massive club, with fantastic support, yet the team on the pitch never lives up to it.
12 managers confirms what we knew, that off the pitch the club was a shambles, yet even so you'd think someone could create a team with their resources and pulling power.

Re: Manager Sacked !!
As it showed on the Netflix series they have horrendous money problems
The owners have had to address the failings of a series of incompetent board issues where predecessors have signed players well past their best on mega money.
I always enjoyed a trip to play the Makems.
Genuine fans with a passion for their team who deserve better than they are getting.
Hopefully, this time they get the manager sorted and he does well.

It seems bizarre on paper why a club with the support and pulling power of Sunderland is struggling to get out of League 1, but the club was left in a right mess, admittedly a lot of this was self-inflicted, for example still paying Jack Rodwell 70k per week well playing in the 3rd tier, and splashing out £4m on Will Grigg.
As we know to our cost once the rot sets into any club, and they start spiralling down the divisions it's incredibly tough to turn that around, I've no doubt Sunderland will revive eventually, but sadly for their long suffering fans it might take another season or two.
Just looking at the League table and their hardly miles off the pace, and they've only suffered 2 defeats in 13 games, although they have drawn 5 of those games, but on the face of it this appears to be a knee jerk reaction again, how is any manager supposed to build a squad if he's not given the time to do it.
League 1 has 8 teams in it this season that have graced the PL, and some of those very recently as well, this just shows how tough a division it's becoming nowadays, which makes the job John Coleman is doing at Accy all the more remarkable, and also Joey at Fleetwood, both of those could be the surprise packages this term, and upstage the big hitters once again.

Not sure a manager recently sacked in the league below would thrill Sunderland fans.
Poyet seems to be favourite for a return at the moment.
Paul Cook may well be interested as well.

Not quite 13, it's 10 if you remove those like Kevin Ball, Robbie Stockdale and James Fowler who all did a few days as caretaker.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 6:14 pmHe was their 13th manager in the time that Sean has been at the Turf.
Martin O'Neill was their manager in 2012 when Sean came to Burnley and they were in the PL.
List is
Martin O'Neill
Paolo Di Canio
Gus Poyet
Dik Advocaat
Sam Allardyce
David Moyes
Simon Grayson
Chris Coleman
Jack Ross
Phil Parkinson
Poyet favourite currently for a return

Names on there are proven and yet fell by the wayside.
Just demonstrates that it is off the pitch and in the boardroom, where the problem lies.

Re: Manager Sacked !!
A few bad results and the fans up there are demanding change and that's what they usually get. There has been more than one occasion, none more so than either side of last Christmas, when the demand on here from some was for Dyche to go. It's warming up again now because of the start. Thankfully our board has stood firm.
Re: Manager Sacked !!
In lockdown, odd suggestions are made.
The one certainty is that if Mr Dyche left, for any reason, it would have an adverse affect on our team.

Our Boxing Day defeat at Hull (2015) was one of the worst I've seen on here. I know strictly speaking that this site wasn't a thing at the time, but most of the usernames were and many of them were having a meltdown.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 11:30 amA few bad results and the fans up there are demanding change and that's what they usually get. Yes, but the odd thing about that was that a lot of posters were crying out for Mee to centre half and Ward in at left back only to be repatedly told, Dyche knows best. We did that after Hull and didn't lose another game all season.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 12:51 pmOur Boxing Day defeat at Hull (2015) was one of the worst I've seen on here. Re: Manager Sacked !!
Very close to this site launching and believe it or not was just about up and running a couple of days before. If you look at the date I registered for the message board it was Christmas Eve, two days before the Hull game.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 12:51 pmOur Boxing Day defeat at Hull (2015) was one of the worst I've seen on here. I am still amazed, given the pick ups we had that day via Barrowford and Baildon in W Yorks, that we even made it through the floods. There were times when I probably wish we hadn't. That was half way, 23 games played and 38 points. Even then, we were scheduled for a play off place. What followed was incredible. But the screams for the manager to be sacked were loud and clear.

Re: Manager Sacked !!
We hit a huge problem on the road towards Keighley from Colne with locals out trying to help cars get through. Then we came to a standstill in Shipley trying to get up to Baildon to pick up MDWat. There the road was closed so we had to go back a few miles and then over the tops to get there. Amazing trip and there were times when I really didn't think we were going to make it but eventually got there in good time having cancelled the stop on the way.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 1:57 pmI've never seen rain like it before. The fog at Derby, the wind at Blackpool, Robbie's goal against Spurs.
Not kneeling down, happy clapping, VAR, diving & rolling around like a hooked eel.
Just a good day out to forget to about work and politics.

Re: Manager Sacked !!
Summed up with the four words - a good day out. That's what it's all about for me. We had a laugh that day at some of the problems we encountered getting to Hull and when I think of that day now I tend not to remember the result, it being Duffo's last game for us (apart from his late cameo at Charlton) but remembering the damn floods and the detours we had to take to get there.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 9:16 pmAnd that for me is what supporting your local team is all about.
