When you see Fulham get a well earned win, by sticking to their football principles, it irks.
Weve always been solid, at our best controlling games on the back foot, but our lack of intent going forward is shocking.
At football we look miles behind every other team in the league, including Fulham, West Brom even Sheff Utd.
We have lost our mojo, and unless we find it again we are doomed. We have to be committed to attack, even if we only have 25% possession, we have to get numbers forward to influence the game.
I'd never knock the players, I'm sure they give 100%, but SDs negative tactics are starting to hurt us. Unless we pose a threat, every team can ignore the defence and just lay siege to our goal.
We have the players, they've shown it before, we just need to get the bloody shackles off them.
But as SD always has done, the first aim is nil to the opposition if that happens we gain at least a draw.
We spend so much time on the training ground on framework and defensive drills, actually attacking is always a 2nd thought.
( which you see when the few attacking players get the ball, its check back and restart on the turn over )
Its great when you nick one to get in front, as the game plan doesn't change and we just have to do what we have set out to do, its when we need to react to either being behind or the opposition changing formation, styles on the pitch we seem to be a bit lost.
There's a reason we have quite a poor record when it comes to winning when we have gone behind, yet the flip side is we don't often lose when in front either.
SD is not an attack minded coach who wants to play football on the front foot, we rarely have prolonged periods of pressure, we rely on 2nd balls and 2nd phase play.
We play a lot of percentage football, rather than balls to feet, so we cannot actually control the pace or "feel" of the game.
But its been like that for 8 years, and is always highlighted more when on a bad run, as results often mask performances with styles like the one SD likes us to play.
