Never going to happen to them is a points deduction as they're a fashionable club. If it were us on the other hand

Why do a lot of our fans think that the world is against us all the time? We have such a victim mentality at times.

I wonder what points deduction they would need to suffer for us to be able to finish higher than them in the league? Id go for 6 as they're the kind of side who once they are safe wont get many pts and we'll finish closer to them than we probably deserve

What's the point of a 25 man squad if you don't have to use it?

Depends on the player, if it was joelinton you can't punish them the same as someone good being out

So does the Manager. Bored to tears about him saying how we never get penalties..If we maybe had somebody in the side to dribble into the area now and again, take a player on we may improve our spot kick record.

And award a few penalties in their favour if it was Manchester United

Points deduction would be ridiculously unfair in the circumstances.

The fans would just invade when allowed back in and overturn the decision regardless.

Man Utd do get a lot of pens, but one of the reasons they are awarded so many is their attacking players actually try and make the defenders commit, if you do that often enough in a game the odds of gaining decisions obviously increases.

Such a fuss about nothing, just re-arrange the game for a later date. Then if there are anymore do the same with them. It's not rocket science.

I'm fairly sure the FA said there would be no postponements because of covid and teams would have to play their youth's if necessary

There is not a hope in hell’s chance of Newcastle suffering any kind of points deduction, or any penalty for that matter, under the circumstances. Imagine the furore if any team were penalised? Would it not encourage results being hidden? I get that the reverse is true but it’s surely easier to prove that someone has tested positive when they say they have, than it is to prove someone who says they’re negative has proved positive.

I’m wondering - is there any other sport, anywhere in the world where a participant has been punished for failing to fulfil a fixture / tie / race due to a genuine Covid-19, positive test? That’s a genuine question.

I would hope not.
And totally agree with you. It would be the precedent for all the wrong reasons.

Leyton Orient were kicked out of the League cup because of their testing.

They said that in hindsight they would have not bothered with any testing and taken the risk.

This is exactly what managers don’t want. Due to the congestion already caused by Covid it is going to be re scheduled and make both teams have to play 3 games in 7 days.

This is why villa are not happy about the postponement, they now have to deal with a hectic Christmas period and then potentially a 3 games in 7 days in January.

That's, like, playing on consecutive weekends with a midweek game in between. Poor lambs.

“The EPL have postponed this weekends clash between Aston Villa & Newcastle, due to a Covid outbreak at the London based club”

Had they turned up with their under18s and lost 28-0 they would have stayed up, instead they decided not to fulfil the game, had 3 points deducted and those points lost relegated them :D

Accrington Stanley postponed 4 matches earlier this season, and they didn't get fined. On the plus side, they're one club that doesn't need vaccinations!
