"Jeff Hendrick divides opinion!!" Shock!! :o (Although the author of the article isn't sitting on any fences is he!?)

Good article but the content won’t surprise many though. He has the odd moment but is generally underwhelming. Having said this we would have benefitted from keeping him but that is more a sad indictment of our performances and weak teams so far this season.

As we can't really include JBG as he's always injured, Jeff would still have been useful to us as a defensive right-sided midfielder.

He shouldn't be any use to us as we should have that side of the pitch sorted by now, but he would.

Geordie and delusions of grandeur.....let's have him back for the relegation campaign.

Here was my prediction on the other Hendrick thread back in September

“If you rate him that much then make a statement. Where will be be in 18 months?

Heres mine

6 months- bench player

18 months- championship“

It’s looking like I was right all along.

He’s an average championship player.

To be fair though, it doesn't take Geordies long to turn on a player... Or a manager and it's the same with their mates 12 or so miles down the road.

Slightly unfair stats about Hendrick. Here's why:

In SD's setup, Hendrick played most of his games out of position, either as a 10 or a RM.

Especially in the RM role, his main job was to block the passing lanes and be ultra disciplined out of possession. This explains the low number of tackles, but that is a tactic Dyche employs anyway. The lack of involvement could also be attributed to the fact that most of Burnley's play over the last two seasons has come down the left.

I was never a massive fan of Jeff, but neither was I one to say he was rubbish either. He did a solid job for us, and I'd have him back today as a squad player.

You make good points, but if you can't get a game in the centre of midfield for Burnley then you're probably not a premier league standard CM.

He’d still walk into our first eleven at the minute.

I wish we’d been able to keep hold of him.

Tbf their best results this season seem to have been when he's played.

He would have been a well needed extra body, but that's it.

“But just like Hendricks has now gone 9 matches without a goal contribution, I genuinely fear that our limitations will eventually catch up with us and we'll go on a long barren run.”

It’s Hendrick !!!!!🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐😂😂

So they think he cant dribble, doesn't tackle, always takes the easy pass option, doesn't create or score much, but runs around s bit looking busy.

Yep, that's Jeff Hendrick alright, but to be fair he was a free transfer to them.
Imagine their views had they paid 10-15m for him!

Sadly he would still walk into our team, which says a lot about the state we are in.

'His biggest contribution is that he's available for selection.'

Unfortunately we currently have players where you'd struggle to use that phrase.
