Since the current owner took over at Everton he has spent 560 million pounds on players including 18 at over 20 million each. Brings a bit of reality to what we are competing against

Didn't manage to see the game, it says something though if Pope is getting MOM off most of you.
If he was then Pickford was probably theirs. Pope made certainly two very good saves but he wasn't over busy in the game. I gave him 8 but I gave other players the same score and for MOM I went for Lowton who I thought was terrific, one mistake apart.

It's easy to pick goalkeepers out I suppose. And if their best player wasn't Pickford then it was the recognisable figure of Michael Keane in the centre of their defence.

I knew they'd spent, spent, spent since he took over but didn't realise it was that much. A lot of it has been wasted with some very poor signings over that time too.

Pickford was Everton's MOM. Pope was ours. It was that sort of game.

Pope 8 strong performance
Lowton 6 generally ok but out of position a few times
Tarkowski 8
Mee 7
Taylor 6 looks a bit off it at the moment
Brady 8 good to see him gaining confidence
Westwood 6 laboured
Brownhill 7 as Westwood but slightly more energy
McNeil 5 struggling at the moment
Wood 6 couple of decent chances but too often lost it when trying to lay off for others
Rodriguez 7 so much more movement than Barnes

Overall not a bad point and good to see us getting nearer what we were used to pre-this season

I'm not sure if you know or not but this is the ratings thread. Man of the match is a different thread.

Absolutely staggered at any low marks for Lowton today. One mistake apart I thought he was excellent.
I thought he was good in moments but also let down and caught out of possession in others. In the first half Brady saved one of his mistakes and it looked like it was only a matter of time with all the ball Richarlison was getting he'd make something of it.

Certainly don't think he deserves a bad score, but overall didn't do enough right compared to wrong to get a good score either in my opinion.

Pope 8. When he plays well we rarely lose. Some outstanding decision making and saves-my MOM
Lowton 7-some great first time passes and crosses, and important blocks. Sold himself short a couple of times, but got away with it
Tarkowski 8-may appear high but he kept Calvert Lewin quiet other than the goal
Mee 7. Some great reading and interceptions
Taylor 6. Not at his best right now, and with Dwight not shining we look weak on the left side. He worries me at times when he comes inwards as he is so left footed. Gave their winger a lot of space
Brady 7-great goal, good work rate looked like he wanted to be part of the team. Despite the knockers we need his skills,
Brownhill 7-could have scored twice.Very workmanlike without being highly creative. He challenges really well
Westwood 7-could have been stronger for their goal, but worked hard with some good first time balls to the front two
McNeil 6-disappointing for me, for most of the season. Today he just could not get in the game. His final cross or pass has become poor, and plays too deep. Also needs some shooting pracice. I think his confidence has gone
Rodriguez 6-great work rate but a poor game for him
Wood 6-could have scored twice. Showed some good touches but Keane kept him quiet
Barnes 7-more like the Barnes we know. We need his contribution in the next few weeks. Was brilliant when he came on

Thought we were very good today, particularly first half. SD needs to ensure this type of performance continues

Barnes 6 Would have preferred to see a bit of change in style with Vydra but we all know what to expect, but then again so must every other manager and team we play against I would have thought.

All told it was an encouraging performance. Everton had a good team out and we stuck to it. Brady took his goal well and Wood might have scored at least once on another day. While not necessarily the best on the pitch, it was good to have Brownhill back. He's still young and has really impressed me since he's made the step up.

I really haven’t seen in Brownhill what others have seen but I thought he had a really good game yesterday.

Headline from Sunday Times report on yesterday's game: Pope shines in front of Southgate to keep Everton at bay

The reporter had Nick Pope as MoM (both teams).

McNeil man of the match in today’s Guardian, scores of 5 might thus be a touch harsh!?

It's the hardest position to play in this Burnley side, as they're always outnumbered. But today while Everton had two in there our CM were great. Unfortunately Delph got injured and they changed shape to outnumber them again, which changed the game massively in Everton's favour.

I’ve liked what I have seen from Brownhill - bearing in mind he’s never played in the top league and he was in relative terms a very cheap buy.
I think he’s very tenacious, got a lot of energy and some decent quality on the ball too.
He’s not set the world on fire by any means but that would have been a bigger shock !!
I think we play better as a team when he plays in the middle - not sure he’s anywhere near as effective out wide though.
Against Everton he showed what he can do in pressing them high up the pitch and forcing mistakes. He can’t do that on his own though but I did think there were encouraging signs we were pressing more as a team.

Clearly, they watched a different game to me. For the most part McNeil has been dreadful this season. The role he is playing is not only ineffective, it is pointless. Get him back out wide and you may see more assists. Our strikers are crying out for some decent delivery.

I think your just looking for negatives to carry on with your agenda. Dwight put Wood through for the easiest of chances a centre forward could ask for.

But your opinion is so unbalanced when you use words like dreadful. He might not be taking players on and putting perfect crosses in but his stats are just as good as last year. He has created clear cut chances in the last two home games that our team very rarely do.

I mean dreadful to me would be scoring own goals, keep giving the ball away etc..

Better late than never??

Pope 8 - excellent again. Some quality saves
Lowton 6 - better going forward, but gets caught out of position far too much when defending
Tarks 7 - Good performance - could he done better to stop Calvert-Lewin??
Mee 7 - see Tarks
Taylor 6 - struggling for form a bit this season - his crossing hasn't been great either
Brady 8 - best game for a while. Hope he gets confidence from the performance and goal
Brownhill 7 - battled hard. a bit more composure and strength would help
Westwood 6 - went down too easily for the goal - another battling effort
McNeil 7 - better out left in this midfield - should have done better with the chance late on
Wood 7 - unlucky not to beat pickford a couple of times - credit to the keeper
J Rod 6 - quiet game. His touch let him down a bit - still worth his place
Barnes - 7 Dyche didn't read my last rating post - replace JRod with Vydra - Wood with Barnes / that said, Barnes did ok with a couple of good moves and a good cross

Overall, I thought we did well. We passed it better than in recent weeks and kept possession well. We had some good chances, but Everton were also dangerous - a draw was a fair result. Onward and upwards!
