I wonder if the people using someone's skin colour as an excuse to troll or go fishing on forums think they're progressing the cause of race equality.
Certain members seem to do it on every thread mentioning a black person solely to try and provoke some response or other.

Re: Formula One
Possibly the most ( deliberately ?) uniformed ignorant post of the year and that takes some beating on here . Lewis Hamilton’s undoubted talent ,speed and a seat at the table of the greats ( fully deserved imo) is one thing . However today has proven that a talented young driver whose never set foot in the car and literally had to be shoe horned in , a totally different set up car and still bossed the race from the off ( inc most of the practice and Q3 too) had some incredible bad luck ,raced back to a soon to be winning position and then gets a puncture to rob him of what would have been a remarkable victory , does indeed show that at least 50% of the current field could win in the merc especially when immaculately set up for them .Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 7:02 pmToday probably seals the deal for Hamilton getting the BBC SPOTY award. Any doubters who thought any old Tom, Dick or Harry could just hop in Hamilton's car and win the race have been categorically proved wrong.
The result today just demonstrates that whilst Hamilton has the best car he is also an immensely talented driver up there with the greats of Formula 1 racing

Hamilton is a fraud. His car is the champion not him
What a cracking idea. Let’s build the best Formula 1 car over the past 7/8 years and but an average driver in it.
What do the best and richest football clubs do? Buy players from League 2. No they buy the best to play the best.

Re: Formula One
That was funny!!
Someone will get demoted at least if not sacked for that today.
The puncture on fresh tyres robbed George of at least 2nd, but I think he would have Checa.
People in the paddock will have seen it a thought , geez he was quick in a car he didn’t fit in.
Re: Formula One
I’m sure they’re happy staying clear of another Hamilton/Rosberg situation. Bottas does the team job for points without the two of them battling it out.

I’ve met a few F1 drivers over the years, one consistent opinion is that tyre management wins races. Jenson Button was a master at it, Senna could drive on rims anyway, and drivers who push the envelope too hard due to inexperience often get it wrong. Slightly too aggressive or too wide for example and it’s fine margins here and they get punctures. May well be debris, but there’s a high probability that the debris would be picked up by being a foot or two off line from driving to hard.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 7:39 pmA trillion billion zillion times more likely would be debris...

Re: Formula One
That is almost certainly accurate. Hamilton won’t want anyone who can beat him in a similar car... but being the best should surely mean he would welcome the challenge

Let make all different quality boxing gloves, different designs, some with more power maybe, then we can see who the real pound for pound best boxer is

More than you mate, I’m certain of it. But I won’t rub you’re nose in it like others would. At the end of the day though I’ll respect your opinion, as long as you respect mine.

Re: Formula One
Looking like Russell will be disqualified and have his points taken off him. Due to team putting Bottas’s tyres on the front of the car he used 14 sets which is illegal.

If you've met him and you don’t like the guy that is your opinion. I have no argument with that.Zlatan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 7:04 pmThat is dangerous ground there, what if I don’t like him (and I’ve met him) because I just think he’s a dick? Am I not allowed to have that opinion of someone just in case it offends others on his behalf? (I am trying to word this carefully as it is referencing a banned topic)
I’m wound up by the number of folk on here who attack him every race day and have no idea about him apart from what they’ve read in their papers. I specify papers because he very rarely has a bad word said about him on the box.

Congrats to cheko. Brilliant for him and the team. 1st and 3rd, the best performance I can remember ever.

Re: Formula One
Yes he was on new tyres (presumably Bottas’), but they said on Sky they thought he’d picked up the puncture from some carbon fibre on the track. Not sure if that was following feedback from the pit lane or just speculation mate.

It baffles me how F1 is considered a sport and has its own sports channel on sky.
I can't wait until my contract is up. Gutted I'm lining over privileged, millionaires pockets for a procession like this.
Feel the same about the Premier league too.
Football doesn't feel like something I belong to when I watch it on sky lately

Re: Formula One
Ahh, that’s a shame. Caught a bit between the rules there though - don’t change them, get a penalty, change them and get one. Then had a puncture of course. You’d think they could find a more appropriate punishment in the circumstances.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 8:00 pmLooking like Russell will be disqualified and have his points taken off him. Re: Formula One
Think another year with Bottas as his number 2, then a year with Russell, teaching him the ropes, would be ideal.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 7:46 pmHe has a deal for next year.
Hamilton has still not signed a deal.
I might just save 40 million and sign George instead.
Russell looked quick today and good overtaking. Great to think he and Norris are coming through to support for when Hamilton retires.

Re: Formula One
The wheel man spotted the error and the corrected it by putting Bottas on the same tyres he came in on. As they didn’t have another set for Bottas they had no other option. So I would argue the error occurred on Russell’s car but was spotted my a member of the team.
This mistake has never happened before in F1 ever.

Would have been a cracking finish but for the puncture, a real race .That's what you pay for, though I agree it doesn't happen enough.Damo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 9:17 pmIt baffles me how F1 is considered a sport and has its own sports channel on sky.

Re: Formula One
Great British sportsman.
Hamilton - cock
Murray - cock
Sullivan - cock
I suppose we should add Steve Redgrave and while we're at it Ron Hill to the list for being great British sportsman and therefore cocks.
Personally I like seeing Brits win and do well, I guess it's just me.
