There's more denim in that picture then what's currently in the Boohoo warehouse.
 ...that really did make me chuckle.

Going off your username I am probably around 12 months older than you. Lived in Crawshawbooth, went to St James the Less, Rawtenstall then St Theodores. Ist name Michael.
In my teens played football with Goodshaw Utd and Carr Utd who at the time played at Barlow Fold in Rawtenstall.
An old Carr Utd team photo TM,did you play with any of these?

I know one of that team - Duncan Wood second from the right on the front row. Used to post on the message board.

I can only assume Duncan is a relative then. Peter Wood was an exceptional batsman.

He certainly was. Last I heard of him he had two McDonalds franchises in Blackburn, that is a while ago mind.

He must have been sober and realised that he’d have a better view than the rest of us. I think it was at the 1-1 draw in 1988/89.

He did look to be steady up there though. You wouldn’t get me up there with or without drink.

I certainly wouldn’t have stood beneath him. He might sober up and realise where he is. Pass the tissues.

Health and Safety 30 years ago would have been the police correctly not putting themselves at risk by following the climber but allowing the hundreds of fans to remain fenced in below.A lack of an evacuation seems unthinkable nowadays and I shudder thinking of all that grim metal fencing when I was growing up.These are better days(post covid hopefully) for sure
