January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
No goals this season in the Champ doesn’t sound promising or what we need when we’ve only scored 9 all season.

Posters will have seen me Josh King for some time, however those wages (if true) , are astronomical. If so Bournemouth will be keen to out him. Having said that he is out of contract soon and no one has come in for him in two windows , so he may need to take a big cut(plus an appetising bonus if we stay up), or even do what we did with Gibson-on loan until May and we agree to buy him if we stay up

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
He's only started 4 games so far this season. He was injured in the early part then has missed a few where I don't think he's been picked as he looks to move away. He's started to be involved a lot more recently by the look of it.

A lot of people slating the new board already. I’m pretty sure SD has been quite stubborn when it comes to the transfer market and ultimately makes the decision who he wants. Pace said that they’d back him so I believe they will. If the targets aren’t for sale, there’s not much else they can do is there?

I didn't realise he was 29 (only a week ago mind). Providing we aren't spending silly money on him, I think he'd be a good addition.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I'd rather see him replace Barnes or Wood personally and keep Vyds, just depends if Vyds does indeed want out.jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 12:37 pmWe need a new option up front - and someone proven yet affordable. You would struggle to find a better fit than Josh King, who is also rapid which is something we hugely lack.
I think that would be a top signing. If we were able to flog Vydra this month and bring in King, that’s a significant upgrade for me.

Time to move Ashley on. King would be an upgrade.

At least it sounds as though some enquiries have been made which is something positive.

Pretty sure he's been rolling off the 'maybes' line for the last 10 years
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
What real chance do the owners have to show ambition this monthTop Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:37 amI very much doubt that Dyche will stay with us beyond the summer if the owners show little ambition in this window
5 transfers so far throughout the whole league shows that there is little appetite from most clubs to spend, or even that the "quality" players are actually out there to buy
We are in a precarious position in the league which doesn't make our Premier League status a given, so potential players will think twice before signing permanent deals with us
This summer will be the true test for the new owners
If we manage to stay up then the manager must be backed
If we go down then the manager will most likely move on anyway of his own accord
We are in a situation where the manager himself will, I think, only have one year left on his contract from this summer so that will be the really interesting time
As for this month, I still would be happy with just a couple of loans covering WR and maybe a striker (if Vydra or Barnes move on)

When asked specifically about king, SD straight batted it away, he didn't deny it.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
bit of power and pace (he has both) would be welcome
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Looks like Tomori is going to AC Milan on loan with a view to permanent.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
well for someone who talks about character all the time I haven't seen much from King. I would expect Dyche to know a lot more about him than me, so if he signs( very doubtful) then he would of course get my full support
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Can't see anything in the Josh King link, several Premier league clubs are after him so that straight away puts us out of the picture, his wage at Bournemouth is 45k a week and its reported he's after 120k a week, so like most rumours it's fake news.

Average Premier League player is on £60k a week...... Really can’t see anyone wanting to pay him
more than that. He’s not exactly done anything to justify it.

Anything to hit our fella with the shitty end of the stick.
I had an 'exchange of words' with someone I work with who has only started following the club in the last few years. I described the fall through the divisions, the near-to-the-knuckle Orient game and games against Hereford and Torquay et al where we were given lessons in clinical finishing and awful defending. He had absolutely no idea how far we had fallen, and subsequently climbed.
A bit of an eye opener for him, but now he has changed his views on our 'penny-pinching, ambitionless club.
What we have achieved in the modern game, where money rules and the wealthy cherry-pick, from our place in Division Four is nothing short of fairy-tale material. I never thought we would sit so lofty.
You can trace things back to the signings of Cotterill and Coyle's tenure if you choose, but for me, getting there a second time, then a third under Dyche is the crux of it all. Much bigger clubs have suffered relegation from the Premier League, and dropped further before stability takes hold.
What we have now is the stuff of Roy of the Rovers. I doubt any club, operating within such parameters as ours will make that step up and ultimately hold their place in the near future. Just get behind them. The manager and his staff, the playing squad have all served us superbly. This attitude that the board have been in place for 3 weeks and we haven't shattered our transfer record yet is playground stuff.

I think we can forget about signing King. West Ham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, West Brom and Everton are also interested.
The latest on Knight comes across like we'll get him if we actually make an offer. But as of yet, suggestions that we haven't so far.

I hope the latter part is right although generally the agents let out we are interested, and that ususlly translates to if Burnley can afford him so can you, and you will beat them on a package for the player too.
Cant really judge the current owners fairly in this window as they've been here 21 days, and had to isolate for 10 of them.
This seasons damage was done by the previous owners in the previous last however many windows.
Hopefully Pace and co can sort out the mess in the next 2 or 3

I agree that we need to be looking at players that will benefit the here and now, but that certainly shouldn’t mean that we should ignore options that may be more of a long term benefit.

Seen him play 4 full games the last time being the other night. Not a lot but in my opinion he has more technical ability than any of the players I mentioned.
Reminds me of Steven Defour.
