Should have signed Dawson last window and someone like Collins now. Would have ready for when Tarky had to go.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 1:16 pmCollins would be a good signing for the future. I just really hope we sign a player for the now. Still think Right Mid or a more creative CM is critical this window

Stoke fans seem to rate him very highly which is always a good sign. They're expecting big money for him though. Derby fans also rate Knight very highly. If we could sign Collins, Knight and a winger to go straight into the team I'd be very satisfied. That's likely to be asking too much...

That would be a pretty amazing window. But realistically there is only seven days of the window left and we there arnt any reported concrete bids yet

Linked to Joe Worrall again in the Mirror....but the story says the new owners may wait until the summer for this one due to over-inflated January prices. Whether it’s now or the summer, I’m sure Forest will be looking to deal as they’re currently going nowhere.

Based on today's performance the only position we urgently still lack cover is WR

Over-Inflated prices in January and too much competition for players creating a bidding war and forcing up prices in the summer.

It’s going to be an interesting week. Lots of Championship clubs getting a bit twitchy, I imagine, plus some good loan deals available.
RW in the McNeil mould would be ideal!

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I’m not sure that it’s as big as it looked like it would be late December, with some decent results, players returning from injury and decent performances from the returning players. That takes the pressure off somewhat.
A rapid right winger, even on loan, and I’d be happy with that. If one or two of the younger players we’ve been linked with come in as well, that’ll be a bonus, but can’t see how they come straight in to our team at the moment - certainly not in their favoured positions.

I still think Damarai Gray would be a great signing for us, available at a very low price given his age and experience, it seems crazy that we aren't in for him.

I was gutted when we didn’t sign Johnson Snr. I can still remember his goal in the 2-0 home win against PNE.claretgoss wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 11:55 amIndeed. Feels strange to be seeing second generation players linked from what really doesn't seem that long ago!
I wasn’t at the Boro game when Keane equalised, but that night against PNE was the loudest I’ve ever heard the Turf.

Best approach to take, that way if we don't, you have already told yourself this and its prevents moaning on a forum about it.
If we do it is a bonus and it gives you a positive feeling.

I think it’s fair to say that if we don’t sign anyone this window it won’t be down to the board.

Signing a RB is in theory quite important this window with both RBs out of contract in 6 months. Still think if we have limited funds they should be spent elsewhere.

Peter O'Rourke on Twitter says we are confident of completing a deal. I believe O'Rourke is usually pretty accurate. It looks like that one could be gathering pace. Haven't seen a figure mentioned anywhere.

Lowton also in excellent form and thought Bardsley defied his age (again!) against Fulham with a great performance. As you say, at a push could cope another year with that if money were tight.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 7:52 pmSigning a RB is in theory quite important this window with both RBs out of contract in 6 months. In some respects would prefer Nathan Collins as hear he can cover RB and RCB so could cover both postitions whilst Tarks is still here.

I expect Lowton will sign a new contract and Bardsley will probably leave this summer.
From listening to Stoke fans and others have have seen Stoke quite a bit, Collins sounds like a real prospect.

Boden has said he believes nothing has changed since Christmas with Kenny. Been contact but Burnley haven’t made an approach
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If we can buy players in January or replace players who we believe are going to leave in Summer at the right price it would show to me that we are planning better in the transfer market. You are always going to be better off buying before selling and we should get around 30 million plus in sales over the summer on Vydra, Tarks and Gibson

Burnley have had a £4.5million offer for Nathan Collins rejected by Stoke. Stoke do not want to lose Collins his window and it is understood they would want more than double that amount before they would considering selling him. #sufc #scfc

Nixon was on Radio Stoke last night, he confirmed our interest in Collins, but the concensus seemed to be that a bid well in excess of £10million would be needed. Our opening bid would appear to fall into the ' derisory' category.
