Re: Your winter photos
We have a small park behind us that’s usually a real haven for the winter migrants but it’s very quiet this year. It’s looking like a quiet year for waxwings too which is disappointing. On a more positive note, there seems to be an increase in gold crest around us.spadesclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 2:43 pmBangers&Mash, a lovely picture. I haven't seen a redwing this year.

There is a hill near there called Ben Bulbin, and the locals say "if you can't see Ben Bulbin its Raining" they also say "if you can see Ben Bulbin its going to rain" gotta love that sense of humour

Re: Your winter photos
Some years ago an old friend's wife passed away. He loved walking and a couple of us took him and we walked the Rochdale Canal from Sowerby Bridge into Manchester (not in one go I hasten to add). There are some lovely stretches and the one between Tod & Hebden Bridge is probably the best of them.

CT is correct in that this area is to be highly recommended for exploration being a mixture of beautiful countryside and fascinating industrial heritage.

Not claiming any credit for this beauty, so no likes. The photographer has signed in, bottom left. It was even better on video as the stars move.
Belvelly Castle on Great Island, Co.Cork. New owners spent £5m renovating it from a shell and have been a wonderful addition to the Great Island community.

There are some gargoyles(is that the right word)
On the farm building as well.
It’s a bit eerie up there when the mist rolls in.

Did a long walkabout from the Nick and trudged through virgin snow, mud and water. I had to stop frequently to catch my breath but am proud of my efforts.
