One on my window sill today - ooops, just looked at the clock, I meant yesterday. So tame and as nice as bird as I get in my garden.

I was getting my phone out for a lovely picture of a Robin yesterday at the Gawthorpe fishing pond.
Unfortunately the dog run passed and disturbed it before I had the chance to snap.

Absolutely love these threads- whatever the season. Superb photographs some of which make me feel quite homesick at times. It is also one of the few threads where there's no bickering, complaining, threatening or bad mouthing. Quite a change these days!
Looking forward to more fantastic photos.

Re: Your winter photos
I can't compete with the photographs I see on here, and won't try to. But I did think there was a photo opportunity this afternoon with the snow coming down. No, sorry, I've no intentions of going out to take any so this is looking through a window at home.

Mam Tor looking chilly this morning.

Re: Your winter photos
Mam Tor is known as the Shivering Mountain because of all the loose shale seen on that photo. It tends to slip and slide in bad weather giving the impression that it is shaking or shivering.

As claretcliff says, some call it the shivering mountain.
They gave up repairing the main road that ran beneath it in the late 70s.

Re: Your winter photos
Glorious day today, 21C with light breeze, decided to get away from the computer for an hour or so at lunchtime, storm/cold front rolling in this afternoon.
Buffalo Bayou Park is a short 10 min walk or 15 min stroll and it is so nice to have it right on the doorstep, can walk right into downtown Houston following the bayou and come up next to cafes and restaurants if you want.
The birds nest was rather large and waited for a while to see if anything was using but nothing showing but seems like a big bird for the size of the nest, only around three of the nests this size during the walk, plenty of normal sized ones, we do have a lot of buzzards around the area though but never see one nesting. In the area where BP have several towers they are always floating on the thermals between them and the walk areas between the towers have plenty of them walking around, they seem almost tame and unafraid unless you get very close.
Occasionally you see the kayaks going up and down and there is a boat club for them, huge dog area where they have their own pools, showers etc and is always busy.

My Dad worked on the Wycoller Country Park project back in the 70’s, when he was at Lancashire CC. I always think of him when I go there. He used to take me and my brother when all the houses were derelict.
It is one of my favourite local places.
