Agreed absolutely: Leather jacket from Lewis, white tee-shirts, black Levis, Ashman boots with white woolly socks turned over the top and a Bell Star helmet, so good that it's still fashionable now; well OK, maybe not the boots/socks combo.

That would be 1968, when about 20 coaches arrived in Burnley about 8am.

I presume it was quite common in those days with coaches often setting off the night before. Overnight trains etc..
My dad often talks about them and his 3 day adventures hitch hiking to games.

I think we lost the cup match 1-3 but beat them 3-0 in the league the week after without the clockwork orange gang but then my memory could be failing me, again lol

James Dean was rocking most of that when your generation were still in diapers.

Mid 60's away cup tie at Bournemouth and we arrived before 8am and in January there is not much to do at that time .We must have left Burnley Bus Station around 11pm on a Central Motors coach and we had to stop at Gannow Top so the drinkers could use the toilet there.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 3:31 pmI presume it was quite common in those days with coaches often setting off the night before. I remember a ominous group of Millwall fans dressed in white ‘Billingsgate’ coats covered in graffiti. Someone said they had meat cleavers . Probably about the same time as the Chelsea incident.

I remember that one , now the game was over and this one lad ran down from the top of the Bee hole end shouting come on , now everyone just looked at him and moved on then this one lad in front of me gave the lad what is best discribed as a Kung Foo kick and floored the lad and then just carried on walking . The Chelsea fan looked out for the count sure he didnt see it coming .Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 2:54 pmMy contribution to this thread is to say that there was big punch up on the Longside right in front of me when we played Chelsea in the Billy Ingham "Ginger Pele" game.

Yes it was. I can remember a couple of our Viscount Central coaches arriving in Brighton about 7.30am. Round the pubs in Burnley on the Friday night with the coaches leaving the bus station at Midnight (and no toilet on coaches in those days!)Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 3:31 pmI presume it was quite common in those days with coaches often setting off the night before.
