Todays football 15-12-20
Stanley 2 up at Gillingham with over an hour gone. As it stands 6th with gameS in hand. This could be bigger than Leicester winning the PL.

Strange that VAR didn’t draw any lines on the pitch in this build up to Chelsea’s goal.
Looks tight to me. Pass went to Werner at bottom of photo.

Just taken my seat at the Abbey Stadium in my first socially distanced post COVID league footy match. Big East Angular derby tonight with Colchester.

Stanley win 0-2. Amazing that a small East Lancs town with an 80k population could be in the Championship.
Oh! Hang on a minute.

Wolves 2-1 up with 20secs left of added time. Neto.
Forget that tight offside now. 0 points from 6 for the Chelsea pretenders.
Final score.

Looks as if the Last Man Standing could be over this week! Just shows how difficult it is to predict results. Maybe this season especially so.

Typically Neto gets the winner having had his penalty rightly taken off him by VAR

West Brom should have been 1-0 up with a fantastic chance!

Rumoured that Tom Heaton will be in the Villa squad against us this week, cant see him dislodging the guy Villa got from Arsenal, but it will be good to see Tom fit and playing again...good luck Tom!

Man in the middle plays him on quite easily. But even if he wasn’t there and the right back was the one to look at I’d prefer it if we allowed that. Give the advantage to the attacker like they used to.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:10 pmStrange that VAR didn’t draw any lines on the pitch in this build up to Chelsea’s goal.

Wouldn’t argue with your final point but with the way reviews have been used I think it is close enough for a look.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:34 pmMan in the middle plays him on quite easily. Re: Todays football 15-12-20
Thank heavens City have finally woken up, we could do without the Baggies doing any bonging tonight.
Accy's 6th win in 9 games, John Coleman is working the oracle once more this season. I wouldn't rule them out of claiming at least a play-off berth, they've got the winning habit, and as we've seen before once a team gets on a roll they're tough to halt.
It's not been a great few days for Chelsea, but a vital win for Wolves to get them back up and running again.
I can see a very low points total winning the PL this season, nobody can seem to be able to string a run of wins together.

You'd still expect Man City to come good in the second half and win it.

Our performances against City are even more disappointing when you see how West Brom are doing tonight. We seem to get the whole thing wrong from how our team is set up to our mental attitude.

Re: Todays football 15-12-20
I have yet to see us since the first couple of games against City in the Premier a Burnley team that did not enter the field a beaten side. Absolutely no belief that we can beat them... so it is no shock to the system when we get thrashed. Whether that same mindset is given to the players in order to be able to raise them quicker for the next match or just in the players minds for themselves is anyone’s guess. But, the fact we don’t even start the games like we intend to expend any more energy than is absolutely required suggests to me it might be coached.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:50 pmOur performances against City are even more disappointing when you see how West Brom are doing tonight. After all them PL years of ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea & Man C. Wouldn't it be refreshing if in 6 seasons we could have 3 first time winners in Leicester, Liverpool & Spurs.
Obviously I’m not writing us off yet.

WBA
are working City hard - 6 at back then 3 and 1 all within 20 yards front to back constantly swapping and covering.
They are doing a real damage limitation job and working so hard.

Re: Todays football 15-12-20
I've a fiver on WBA to draw @9/1 and a fiver to win @22/1 so the last few mins should be interesting. City will win, no doubt, a soft penalty, a missed offside or sheer class. We'll see.

Well played, WBA, nice surprise - they did to City what we can't do to City. A bit lucky at times but we can't begrudge them that point.

Unwelcome bonus point for WBA. Worthless unless they back it up in the games they *need* to get results in. That 5-0 at the Etihad has ultimately had no impact on either City or Burnley.

City are a shambles. All that money Pep has spent and they’ve gone backwards. Never replaced Kompany at the back and now they haven’t replaced Silva. They’ve always bored me with their passing game but now they are passing for the sake of counting passes.
On the plus side it keeps Bilic in work for a month.

They have pace in forward positions. We don’t do that because we simply just can’t get support to our front two quick enough from wide areas

Re: Todays football 15-12-20
A great point for West Brom, it's a good job we got the 3 points at the Emirates, because Fulham & West Brom are picking up results as well.
The big losers from these games is Sheff Utd, they are in real danger of getting cut adrift unless they can put a win or 2 on the board very soon.
Something is not well in the City camp, they've looked lethargic all season, and I can't see them mounting a title challenge on their present form.

Re: Todays football 15-12-20
Not sure why we have to bang on about how bad we are against City whenever they play poorly or another team grabs a result against them. If they’d have played anything like they can it would have been a similar result to when they played us.
What matters is we get points from the teams around us with the odd surprise points like this week at the Emirates. As far as I’m concerned we can get smashed twice by City every season if we get the other points we always seem to manage. It’s not like we haven’t made it hard for City a couple of times at the turf.....
