Dwight McNeil
Has come in for a lot of stuck lately. Some warranted others not. But tonight that first half he’s been first class. Particularly carrying the ball through the centre and running direct.
Looks confident.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Shame we don't have another player that can do that
Re: Dwight McNeil
Shame he has no end result and doesn't make the intelligent decisions when it matters.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Has had his Weetabix today.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Yep on fire first half. The 3 on 3 brady should have gone to the left to pull the defender

Re: Dwight McNeil
Technically they’re all over us so it’s nice to see him stretch his legs, read an interview this week from Dyche and it made me realise I’m being far to critical of Him

Not saying he’s the same standard as grealish (yet) but I’d definitely like to see him play the same role.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Can argue all you like Popes kicking has been abysmal tonight, it just puts us straight under pressure

He’s suffering because he has nobody out on the right to share the workload.
We’re incredibly fortunate there are 3/4 really bad teams down there with us, because we’re absolutely cr@p going forward.

Decent 1st half, poor 2nd, some woeful crossing and wasted chances
Re: Dwight McNeil
Name me any other Premier League club that asks, or has ever asked, a 20 year old inexperienced kid to carry their teams entire threat going forward.
It’s a ******* farce, and it’s not McNeils fault in the slightest.

Re: Dwight McNeil
You could argue that to retain possession we end up giving it to Pope for the big launch and that becomes 70-30 in their favour as they are facing the incoming ball.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 7:37 pmCan argue all you like Popes kicking has been abysmal tonight, it just puts us straight under pressure
I’d rather our outfield players attempted a forward pass as there’s a better chance of retaining possession this way as opposed to the big lump forward. Our manager doesn’t, so I suppose that’s fair enough.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Very good first half but unfortunately didn’t great that moment of magic. Second half Smith clearly put a plan in place to nullify him, and it worked. As a result it fit create a number of occasions where Brady was in a lot of space on the right but, despite having a decent game also failed to affect proceedings.
The real positive for me is that our defence is now where we’re used to it being. Creativity is a major issue and one which we should be addressing in January.

I think he’s a great goal keeper but his kicking is probably as bad as anyone I’ve seen in the division, rough with the smooth
Re: Dwight McNeil
I didn't see the game but I'm glad Dwight did well in the first half. He's a young man learning his trade and will imo only get better. Im sure with a bit more quality in the team we'll see him flourish.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Great in first half but sometimes keeps ball too long. He seemed knackered in 2nd half and made mistakes. His crossing is excellent. Manages to get really good balls into the box even when under pressure

Jack Grealish for Villa??Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 8:41 pmif you are relying on one person for creativity it's an opposition managers dream

Re: Dwight McNeil
When you compare McNeil to Grealish when he was Dwight's age, there is no comparison as to who is the more valuable player.
In the next 4 years, when Dwight is the same age as Grealish is now, I would expect him to be at a similar level at a bigger club than us.

Re: Dwight McNeil
1st half very good especially when you consider Dyche has coached that out of him (apparently)
2nd half like the rest of the side going forward off the pace.
