Celtic win a Cup and it's news apparently
Why does this get reported as news? Apparently, it's a quadruple treble (sounds like something Billy Connolly would drink).
Haven't they won the League 99 times out of the last 100 years or thereabouts?
I put it on a par with Messi being called world class after spending his career in a pub league beating FC Minorca or whoever.
He should look at Ronaldo's career and hang his head in shame.

Re: Celtic win a Cup and it's news apparently
The 1984/85 season was the last time it was anyone other than either of the Glasgow clubs to win the league, it was Aberdeen.
Just shows how uncompetitive the league really is.
I'm sure I read that their TV rights are skewed heavily in favour of the 2 Glasgow clubs too, which helps keep the league uncompetitive

Good news that they won - it keeps Neil Lennon in a job a little while longer which ensures Rangers win the league.

Scotty Arfield has a good game and it’s news on here, so to actually win 12 trophies in succession at any level is a fantastic achievement irrespective of what league you are in.

Re: Celtic win a Cup and it's news apparently
I watched this game today, and I have to say Celtic were incredibly lucky to win, even in the penalty shootout they were behind.
The good news is they won't win the treble this year, because they've already been dumped out of the LC, and the league is looking a tough ask for them the way Rangers are going right now.
Bizarrely despite today marking their 12th trophy in a row, there is still question marks over Lennon's future.
I do agree the league is very predictable, and that's unlikely to change anytime soon, however neither of the Old Firm have made it to the last 4 of the LC, so one of the provincial clubs will lift a major trophy for a change.

The Scottish league survives on religious bigotry.. Which draws in far more support than anything football related.
I remember mornings in Kilmarnock watching rows of buses and coaches leaving to watch either of the bigot teams rolling over inept third rate feeder clubs on a monotonous weekly basis, whilst Killie were lucky to pull in 7k.
Not really sure why the jocks accept the situation.

Ex Claret scored the equaliser for Hearts to make it 3-3

Anyhow for those who didn’t see the news and don’t think Celtic winning a cup is news....but thought you would pop on this forum if you have opened this thread then ironically you have just been alerted to the news of Celtic’s triumph !!

If that’s what you think,
Yet
Four years of cup games, one off ties, potential for loads of things to go wrong and yet the still won every game.
How do you keep that standard up and motivation game after game?

i think having a budget and an infrastructure that is several orders of magnitude larger than your competitors would come in handy.
but if you want to celebrate mediocrity you crack on lad.

If Messi is playing in a Pub League, why aren’t all the other players world class like him?

Re: Celtic win a Cup and it's news apparently
Ginnelly came off the bench, and he certainly had an impact on the match, he spurned a couple of decent chances before scoring Hearts 3rd, he's been out injured for 7 weeks, but he has been impressive when I've seen him, admittedly he is playing in the Scottish Championship, and the standard is probably equivalent to L1/L2, so it's not exactly a surprise he's sticking out like a sore thumb.TVC15 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 9:41 pmEx Claret scored the equaliser for Hearts to make it 3-3

Re: Celtic win a Cup and it's news apparently
I was in Inverness a couple of years ago when they in the SPL and on the Saturday morning a fleet of coaches were being loaded up in the carpark at the Inverness football ground. I asked the gateman what was happening and he said they were going to watch Rangers play at league 1 game, (I think) and that the next weekend it would be Celtic fans doing the same thing!
