The Captain
got a good whack early doors, shrugged it off, organised everything, won every tackle plus won tackles he had no right to win
There is no coincidence in our up turn in form
You shall not pass

Yes. a whack that a sensible offside decision/rule would have prevented.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 7:38 pmgot a good whack early doors, shrugged it off, organised everything, won every tackle plus won tackles he had no right to win

Re: The Captain
The best central defender I've seen for us in nearly sixty years. Tarks is a very close second. Fabulous player(s)

Absolutely. Since he came back in we have been a different team.
He epitomises what a captain should be.

His performances certainly justify a call up.

Warrior. He and Tarks complete legends.
Re: The Captain
I just think he epitomises what we are all about. Managerial material when he hangs up his boots.

And for a few minutes I looked like he was going to have to go off after that challenge.
Just ran it off.

Re: The Captain
I've seen plenty of posts over the years about footballers regarded as 'hard men' and the usual suspects invariably appear. Like a lot of the older posters on here I've probably seen them at some time but Ben Mee falls into a category of his own. An unnecessary leg injury in the first half and a bloody nose in the second half but our skipper just gets on with it, wearing down the opposition and setting up what turned out to be the winning goal. As alluded to earlier he doesn't necessarily give off the tough guy image but nobody should be fooled by that. A giant of a man and leader.

Re: The Captain
And in spite of what opponents seem to believe, he isn't particularly big. 5 foot 11 inches according to most websites, the PL official one included. That's small for a centre half nowadays.
