Best Yuletide Wishes from France

Post by ecc » Thu Dec 24, 2020 3:30 pm

Hello to all my fellow Clarets (and all readers of UTC).

Been in a psychiatric clinic for two months. I prefer to tell the truth rather than use the term "hospital" because one of the many strengths of this Board is the positive approach towards depression and, indeed, all illnesses. There are patients in here who are far, far worse off than I am and coming here (I'm a regular) reminds me of just how bad mental issues - and indeed - all illnesses are.

On a more positive note, our recent results have been a great lift for me and undoubtedly all of us. I'm not going to tempt fate by making any observations.

Was tremendous to see Barnsey get back on the scoresheet. He needed that, we needed that. Jay's next up.

It's been a very dark year and my thoughts are with all people suffering badly due to Covid. And, of course, all people suffering per se.

The news from England is very worrying.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all and with all your loved ones.

Steve

Best wishes to you. I've had mental health problems over the last 20 months too and can empathise with you. Goods luck for both the immediate and long term future. UTC

Quite right too, hopefully we've turned a corner and can talk in the same way as we do with physical struggles. Also hoping the Clarets continue to help in your recovery..

Steve, it’s good to be honest about how you feel as most of us have been there at some point in our lives.

Wishing you a very merry Christmas and I hope you (and all of us) have a much better new year.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Steve & yes, I think there's a much better understanding of mental illness in football & society in general over here these days. As for your concerns about Covid over here, I fear that more people will soon be suffering from a mental illness as a result of this terrible disease, unfortunately. My best wishes to you for the future.
