Holiday 2021
Anyone booked one yet?
Anyone expecting it to happen?
Normally book on NYE, but will postpone this year.
Any suggestions for family of 7 (kids aged 6-12) welcome. Greece and Spain ticked of, but budget isn't huge.

You'd like to think that by summer we'll be back to a degree of normality assuming the rollout of vaccines goes smoothly. I don't think i'd be booking anything for April or May though.

My son was off to Barbados back on March 25th this year and it was put off until March 2021. Thought it was a dead cert at the time, but now....what's his chances??

Re: Holiday 2021
Had two weeks in Florida booked since mid 2019 which I have moved the date of about 5 times! It’s currently booked for July 12th, no chance I’d have said.
I just keep shifting the date as opposed to cancelling and rebooking because the price has gone up hugely on fresh bookings. I’ll remain hopeful, but being realistic I expect to be shifting it to August 2022.

Re: Holiday 2021
Nothing booked yet, hopefully we'll get a UK holiday at least, I don't know if I can be bothered with all the fuss over going overseas, and I've never flown so I don't know how I'll react on the flight.
Much safer to explore the British Isles and help out the local tourist economies, the Lakes might be a good option for us, only a short train hike away, and you get plenty of nature and activities in Cumbria, as long as you don't mind the rain

We were supposed to be going to Prague and sail up to Berlin on the River Elbe in April 21 but its been postponed .
Nowt booked ... the refunds we got from cancelled holidays this year paid for our new kitchen ...
We will probably do some trips in the UK next year (Cornwall, North Wales and Scotland on our list) and see some of our beautiful country and sights

Re: Holiday 2021
We have got Tenerife in February and that is obviously looking grim. We have to make a decision in the next few weeks if they don't make it for us. It was our summer hol from last year that we moved except we moved it from Turkey to Tenerife. Was looking ok until the Canarys were added to the no go list.Looking like we will ask for money back this time. We have also got the same place in Turkey booked for July..hopeful on that one.
Re: Holiday 2021
I intend to go to the Carribean between Jan-Mar, Greece or Spain in Jun-Jul, and Turkey is Sep. Much prefer going abroad with guaranteed good weather than take the risk of holidaying in the UK.

Re: Holiday 2021
I'm retired - and, of course, not tied to school holidays. I've booked 3 (low cost) weeks away in Feb, April and June - after missing out (cancelled) on two similar weeks away in April and Nov - but, I did make it to the Lakes in August and skiing in March (before LD1). I think the Feb date will be cancelled - I don't think London will be out of Tier 4 by then. Fingers crossed for April and June.
These are all UK weeks. I'd like to think I can get some late summer sun around the Med later in the year, but will be on "last.minute.fly" basis if everything works out for everyone.

Re: Holiday 2021
With the Moderna vaccine being approved over the coming days, I would imagine we will have a good number of million people vaccinated. Same with other countries in the world, by Spring time. I don't envisage normality but I do believe that after the first quarter of 2021 things will be starting to move again. I am hoping to go to the USA by then.

We missed three this year, and may has been booked for 12 months, I'd love to book 4 more for next year, but I think I'll have to hold off for a month or so to see how things go here, and in the canaries... I think many countries will stick to a travel ban until a decent percentage of vaccinations have been given. Even then I wouldn’t be surprised if they keep a ban for those not vaccinated. I don’t expect any reasonable changes before Autumn.

Re: Holiday 2021
Camping in Snowdonia in May half term, postponed from the same time this year.
May look at booking a campsite for me and the kids (not the missus) in Scotland for the start of the summer holidays, taking in some BetFred cup games, should that actually be runninf then.
Then, later in the summer, camping in Cornwall, near South Devon border, instead of our usual trip to France - COVID and Brexit made us think it just wouldn't be worth it. Several hundred pounds cheaper, which will more than pay for some surfing lessons, etc. for the kids!
Not 100% confident we'll be able to do any of them, but hey....something to look forward to, in theory at least!

Hoping for a week in the deep South of Ireland in August / September catching up with many cousins. I hope to have had the vaccine by that time.
What chance car ferries being back in action? Really don't want to be cooped up in a cigar tube even for just the hour it would take to fly there.

Would love a holiday, had a lads trip to Krakow cancelled at the end of January, would love to get away with my children in September next year, it’s been a while. Having said that we went away for 5 nights this year in the to the lakes, had fantastic weather and it was brilliant! So I’ll likely do that again

Re: Holiday 2021
Living on the Costa del Sol in Spain, my idea of a holiday next year will be getting my vaccination here first then when it is safe, coming back to the Burnley area/England for a while in August/September time to see my family and and friends, especially my new grand son, whom I haven't seen yet.
Obviously I would also be looking at getting some games in on the Turf, hopefully seeing us take the PL by storm under Dyche's leadership and with a new dynamic, forward looking Board of Directors in place.

Re: Holiday 2021
Krakow 5 days at Easter
A villa in Turkey for 16 days in August
Hoping to get to Amsterdam too, we were due to fly out Sunday for 3 nights, but we cancelled it after the flight times changed early December, so it was a free reason to cancel without a penalty, so thought it was a wise decision under the circumstances.
I'd like to spend next Christmas in New york but that may have to be postponed for another year as, even the mini city breaks mount up in cost.

We have a cruise booked from Southampton to barbados in October, I think cruises just might have had their day, no way do I fancy cruising at the moment.

Flight to LA in beginning of June.
Duno where I'm going from there. Coast, Yosemite or Maui.
If I can't go I won't loose sleep, just use the rebooking to go to New York or something at new year if possible.

Re: Holiday 2021
no where booked as a whole family for 2021 and will wait and see for now.
My son and family have been booked to travel here, four of them with our two grandchildren, for Easter end of March. The flight they had booked for 27th March has already been cancelled and they are moved to 28th. However they still need to apply for the four visa's that will allow them to travel, they can't apply yet and everyone is just hoping and waiting for now.
Hubby has a roadtrip with our son planned for mid May, fly to California and drive PCH1, San Francisco to San Diego, stopping 2 nights i, just not to be, so will wait and see when it is possible next year.n each plus a stop for 2 nights in LA. This was all planned for May this year, postponed to September, postponed again in September until May, airline are saying you have had 2 free postponements, if you delay again you will have to pay a penalty. Again, something in doubt and he will not be happy if he has to pay regarding this.
I was expecting to have flown at least once this year to the UK and stay with family and have some time with our grandchildren, just not been possible, looking forward to the time next year when I can make that journey.

Re: Holiday 2021
Thank you, issues are, there is no passenger rail in Houston to anywhere as far as I know and have looked previously, lots of rail freight.
Secondly and more importantly they airfares and the hotels in the three cities are all paid for, no chance of a rebate and they were not paid for separately but as part of a holiday package through United Airlines, so I believe they are stuck with what they had, booked/paid for in mid 2019.
I have always wanted to do the rail from Chicago across the Rockies and to Vancouver in one of those large double decker trains for viewing etc. and sleeping on the train, maybe one day.

Only time I’m usually off work is to go on holiday so after working straight through this year - I’ve ended up with 12 days holiday left
Can’t wait to get away and after a few cancelled this year we have Turkey booked for April but not holding much hope for that either. Will be the 5/6th that’s ended up being cancelled

Re: Holiday 2021
Nothing planned and won’t be booking anywhere abroad until things normalise somewhat. Hopefully this year, but if not, so be it.
Two separate friends have had a nightmare holidaying in Europe (Greece) this year - both randomly selected for Covid tests at the airport, tested positive without symptoms and one had even had a negative test before travelling, then isolated in a 1-2 star hotel from their partners/family for the whole holiday (one of which had to stay longer than their family due to isolation period). No thanks.
I don’t want to either travel or visit another country during a pandemic with all these rules and uncertainty in place - wouldn’t enjoy it at all and would much rather save my money until life ref turns to normal, be that 21, 22 or 23.
In the meantime, will enjoy Cornwall and might try Isle of Skye.

Normally book on NYE, but will postpone this year.
Any suggestions for family of 7 (kids aged 6-12) welcome. Greece and Spain ticked of, but budget isn't huge.
Kids sound perfect age for a camping holiday on St martins in the Scillies.. Small island.. Big deserted white sand beaches.. Fishing, kayaking, sailing.. No traffic.. No yobs.. No crime and not a single covid case in the entire island group.
I think the campsite has a website..

Chicago and Milwaukee for some April baseball. As an optimist, it's 50-50. Depends to a large extent whether they are letting anyone in to the stadiums.
Fully refundable or transferable.

Re: Holiday 2021
I had 2 booked for this year. Flights with Easyjet and hotels with booking.com. I altered both holidays for next year but changed them to Easyjet holiday packages as they were ridiculously cheap (4 star half board in Benidorm for 11 nights, luggage in hold included and transfers, for £500 per person) . Luckily I always book the hotels on the cancellation booking so didn't cost me.
Might have to change the May one again but not worried as Easyjet have been brilliant.

I will be very disappointed if I cant at least get to Greek island at some point. Managed a great week walking in Crete even in 2020 and with the vaccine hopefully coming in the first half of the year I'll be hopeful again.
Re: Holiday 2021
Crete is a lovely island. Paradise. I hope to retire there eventually and spend my days walking, mountain biking, swimming in the sea, drinking the odd Zorbas beer now and then whilst listening to the crickets sing etc etc. It is the final part of my life plan.

Before that if possible, (but if not possible, as soon as I can) a three week cross-Europe “small roads” motorcycle trip to Bulgaria.
Then....Probably something else not involving two wheels with the wife.
