Think your mate complained because itβs now 12+ pal!!!
And if I do it in 6 hours, Iβll be overjoyed! Two hours that took me and it was page one of the instructions! Itβs a 30 page booklet so at current rate itβs going to take me 60 hours!!
I think your mate missed a zero off!!!

I thought this was the thread to post about Christmas presents received.
I rec'd a surprise book: From Orient to the Emirates. The plucky rise of Burnley FC by Tim Quelch.
So far I've read the "Thanks," the "Foreword" (by Mike Garlick and the "Prologue."
I know some of the posters on here will know this book.
I know many of us know the "story so far" - because it is a long story and there's many years ahead, it doesn't finish in 2020/21...
I don't know if Tim Quelch posts on this mb. Well done, if he does.
Again, as many will know, all royalties go to Prostrate Cancer UK. Well done, also, for that.
Merry Christmas, everyone.

Tim's a good friend of mine and I think you've got yourself a terrific book there. As an aside, not as though it is of any importance, Tim interviewed Mike Garlick for the book on the day we signed Phil Bardsley.
He doesn't post on the board but does write occasional articles for the site.

Iβd crack open a beer mate and tell her to crack her own nuts
Merry Christmas
Hope you enjoyed your festivities. Hope everyone did. Yes Bosscat. The Manchester Screwdriver came in useful. The wife only came out of bed for dinner (tea). Spent the late afternoon and evening in bed. Cold here yesterday. A few bottles of Heineken and a glass of Merlot with dinner while watching Joker, Jumanji-The Next Level and MIB International.
Have to admit to dropping off to sleep in the last two films
Full belly, few alcoholic beverages and a cosy duvet and I was gone by about 8pm.

On a side note to above. My Mum called yesterday mid afternoon. She very rarely drinks but clearly had yesterday. She was giggling, asking questions that made no sense and kept shouting 'I love you!!!!' down the phone.
She's the sort of person who is drunk on a glass of sherry so she'll be feeling it this morning.

Christmas day was Good, but very different for us.
No rushing to get ready to the nursing home, or the in-laws (their bubble plus ours would be too big) made it a lot more relaxed and calm.
But there were a few things missing. We weren't rushing to contact the home because my dad died with covid, and we have a daughter down south who didn't feel it safe to travel up north, although we had a few zoom calls and a single lady in their church has put her and her flat mate up over Christmas.

Great gift to receive PW, I picked this book up a few months ago, sadly I haven't got round to starting it yet, as I'm still slowly working through Tim's story of our 1960 league triumph, hope you enjoy From Orient to the Emirates when you get around to reading it, I find Tim's style easy to digest, and his anecdotes are very amusing.
I'd definitely recommend this title for anyone with an interest in BFC'S recent history, and our climb back to the top league, there was plenty of up's and downs along the rollercoaster journey, but we finally got there in the end.
Great cause as well.
